Hi folks,

Not been waxing long, and gave myself a hollywood for the first time the other day :) (was touch and go twice I had to physic my self up to pull off:lol:)
Any way, I have a few hairs coming through already, now am I just unlucky that there was hair ready to come through or have I snapped the hair? how on earth can you tell the difference? xx

Hi hun, I haven't been waxing for long either, one way to see is if the follicle is attached to the hair that's stuck in the wax. Did you use warm or hot wax?
I've found that hot wax is a lot better at grabbing those short hairs as well as the very fine ones.
I think you're very brave to do your own hollywood:eek: No way could I do that to myself:Scared:

Wow! You are brave!! I tried to give myself just a regular bikini wax and just about managed that!!

If the hair has snapped you wont see the root on the wax strip or hard wax if you use that and it would feel stubbly when the hair protrudes. If it your first time waxing that area then it may be that you had hairs that were just under the surface waiting to come through because of the hairs cycle. If you keep at it, over the coming months you should see the hairs fall into line with your waxing cycle.

Defo super advice above. I too do my own hollywood waxing, and find I snap some hairs too as I can't get the right angle to pull the atrip correctly. Really this sort of waxing should not be done by ourselves !

Try having a hot bath next time before attempting it again to soften the hair and open the pores a little more. I have found this helped me a bit.

Snapped hairs will feel very similar to shaved hairs, whereas new hair is tapered at the end, so not so blunt. xxx

Hi Hun,
You are way too brave to do your own Hollywood......I do all my other waxing, but for that I pay a professional.........it is worth it.
Yes as Kim says the hairs will be blunt like from shaving if hairs are snapped........If not then the new hairs are tapered and finer on re growth.
Best of luck, and be careful.
Lotsa luv x x x  x x x

well the hair is not soft so think I probably have snapped a few, but not bad for a 1st go! lol :)
I used ABC hot wax, did'nt check strip for bulbs will remember this next time
Have been getting waxed for years but used to shave inbetween as I had so many ingrown hairs from gettin waxed (was strip wax I did'nt know any better lol)
I'll try the hot bath next time too!
Thanks for all the advice ladies xx

Off on a tangent but...

I used to get a Hollywood done but stopped because I got a lot of ingrown hairs, but is strip wax bad for giving ingrown hairs? It was strip wax i had done, and have only realised from reading on here that hot wax is better for this type of waxing than strip. xx

Clients do find that they get more ingrown hairs from strip wax. I would not use strip wax in intimate waxing. xx

I used honey wax for years before switching to hard wax, and I have not noticed any difference in the amount of clients with ingrowns.
