ive said for years that if you get your bikini line waxed the last side you do hurts:cry: more because the lymph nodes are workin on the first side to take the pain away :rolleyes:but recently ive wondered if this is right or not :rolleyes:im not sure where i got this information from :!::!: could you please give me your oppinion thank you :green::hug:

I have found the second side hurts more for anything. I think we stress and get nervous about what is coming up and make it worse for ourselves. I have done a lot of cosmetic tattooing and I tried many different things: I lied to clients, told them the 2nd side was easier, started on the left side if they were right or left handed. None of it mattered, 2nd side hurt more.

I would agree with U.S Wax Queen. My daughter had her ears pierced for the 1st time on Saturday (she's 7) and when it was all over, she said to me "why does my 2nd one hurt more mum?". I said it was because she knew what was coming. How true!

This is slightly different but still relevant, when I have my electrical facial treatment (high frequency), my right side is always more sensitive than my left, it doesn't matter which therapist does the treatment it is always the same :) I am lefthanded therefore not sure whether that has anything to do with it.

The nervousness thing sounds right. If you think about it, our bodies produce strong flows of adrenaline at certain times that help us not notice the pain. SO by the time you get to that second side or even after, that adrenaline rush is very low if there at all, thus feeling more pain. Does that make sense? lol

I was told once that everyone has one side that hurts more and it's usually your non-dominant side. For me, my left side. Every tattoo I've got on my left side hurt way more. I have tattoos in the same spot on both ankles, wrists and ****s and the left side always was stingy.

Something to do with the pain receptors in your non-dominant side being more alert than your dominant side. Must be why when I get a paper cut on my right hand I don't tend to notice it, but get one on my left hand and it feels like I've just about cut my hand off.

I dunno about that...

When i get my Hollywood done it all hurts like heck no matter what side:lol:

I was told, the reason the 2nd side hurts more, is because as soon as the first side is started, all the little pain-killing endorphins rush to that side...then you start the 2nd side, but there are less endorphins to go to that side to kill the pain!

With regards to the right/left side debate...I was also told that your dominant side has more hair on it than the other side. It's really easy to see on bikini lines/underarms/eyebrows, and I've found that it's usually true.

So, if you are right-handed, and therefore, the right side if your bikini line has more hair, you're best to start waxing this side. Then, when you get to the left side, although there are no endorphins left, there's less hair so it should be slightly more bearable than if you'd done it the other way round.

Still hurts though!

thanks for all that its all really linking together now i think lol!!!! lots of love and luck to you all xxxx:)

:):):):)

what is it they say - no pain no gain :):)

I think the bit that hurts most is when it's time to pay.

Never heard of that before I must say. xxx

There is a big psychological aspect involved, expectation of pain amplifies the feeling of pain.

I've had my nipple pierced (grew out unfortunately) and to be honest that didn't really hurt that much, but then I knew it wouldn't really. I know people who have had theirs done and got so worked up about it when it happened well, screamed the house down.

The worst thing you can do is when I pull the wax off with these really thick deep rooted hairs its gonna hurt like hell. Because it will then seriously hurt, the best thing to do is place once hand on a shoulder and say something like "just take a few slow deep breaths, this really won't be that bad". The hand in contact with them is really important.

No seriously Fozzyo no amount of human contact could reduce waxing pain for me unless maybe David Beckham was kissing me at the same time, I doubt i'd be thinking of pain then.

I just sound like a perv now but hey ho!
