I have a man booked in today for a back wax, not had it done before. He said he normally gets his wife to shave it but has made his back spotty. As long as none of the spots are bleeding etc would you say its fine to go ahead and do?

See if the spots are active. If so then do not wax as you will cause them to spread.

yes you don't want to be waxing over any pus filled spots as you may cause folliculitis.
If he is prone to spots when shaving he is also almost certainly going to get them about a week or so after waxing and he needs to be advised on very strict aftercare and also be warned that he may well get them but hopefully after a few waxes his skin will settle down.
Its a good idea to start waxing now on newbies as people will have a chance to get their waxing settled and at a good stage of growth before they are stripping off for the summer and their hols.

If the man is spotty anyway and he wants his back waxed, then wax it. I would cleanse again after waxing and apply some Savlon or similar. I've checked this out with my GP clients and they all agree that it's fine. xx

advise him to get laser hair removal

Sorry - I would not use that rationale (absolutely not). There are huge variances in acne, which is why I mentioned "active". Depends on what we are talking about here. You could be exacerbating an already inflammed, infected condition. If the acne is active - do not wax. As already mentioned - laser removal may be an option.
