Hi guys,

Ive been having my brows waxed for a few months so far had them done twice and both times my eyebrows were sooo sore and looked red raw and developed a rash. This lasted about 1-2 weeks and wouldnt phase.
And when i go to apply make up foundation or spray tan you can see the white marks strips there.

Why does this happen? And how do i prevent it?

Hi

are you applying your make up after the waxing treatment? if so, dont apply it for at least 24 hours.

also, ask the therapist if the after wax lotion contains tea tree oil? it may be too strong for you if you have sensitive skin.
I find the napy rash cream like drapolene is great for an after wax treatment if your skin is highly sensitive.

You may be allergic to the wax. Are they using strip or non strip? Some people are allergic to the colophony in wax and this can be a contraindication to waxing. I believe that Perron Rigot does a wax specifically for allergy prone people.

No i dont apply any makeup afterwards i do wait a few days before doing so and it still showing the white marks.
Its me thats waxing my brows and at the moment im using salon system wax for sensitive skin. I use strip wax.

These may be a little obvious but....we sometimes overlook the obvious when we are doing our own treatments

A) Sometimes when doing our own we dont always pull off correctly.
B) Are you self tanning before/after?
C) Allergy
D) Wax too hot/too cool, pulling skin off
E) Over waxing the area
F) Not stretching that skin out enough
G) Face cream, moisturiser reacting

Probably a few more too....

Well, for a start, get a decent wax! And then use a non strip one, much nicer for sensitive areas.

Try using just their honey wax and see how you get on with that. The sensetive wax is quite highly coloured if its the lavender creme one.

I don't believe there is this huge difference in strip waxes i think its more technique and knowing the wax ie temperature etc i don't think there is one i haven't tried.
I do really like the high end waxes but i can do as good a job with salon system no one ever knows the difference, i do not have people flinching all the time covered with grazes and bruises.Im using forest floor ginger wax at the mo and that is really nice to use.I won it in the guild comp and i shall probably buy it again and thats cheap.

The only time i have ever grazed anyone was with a high end wax only a little time ago so i put that down to me not using it the right way probably at the right temperature.

For me personally i also feel i have better control and can perfect the shape better with honey strip wax which i use with my little roller.I have tried non strip for brows but do not like using it and not one of my regulars has ever said they prefer it or think its less painful.

I am only using a basic (hive) wax at the moment Violet and yes you would be better off with a much higher quality one.

Berins is on my list lol

Hot wax would be better, the clients prefer it, having said that I do my own eyebrows with strip and dont have that problem, I think you are being far too harsh on your skin, probably not getting you angle right on pulling off.

Make sure you pop some oil underneath.

If you do get some hot film wax then get used to it before you do use it on your eyebrows because you will probably end up taking them all off.Its quite a bit different than strip and i wouldn't attempt hot hard wax at all without some training.

Thanks for your advice ladies, much appreciated. Need to wax my brows tommorow and will follow your advice and hope it doesnt have the same reaction.

Good point Gillian....forgot that one x

I would cleanse area in just some cool water, make sure area is dry.As its hot and sweaty at the mo put on the weeniest bit of talc using your ring fingers against hair growth ,wax ,then just leave and don't touch, no aftercare lotion.
If they are a bit sticky just put a tiny drop of almond or sunflower oil on.
