Hi all,

I am currently in the process of having a heart attack. I went to check my business emails this morning and nothing. No website, no webmail, no contact details.....aaaarghhhhhhh.

The company was called clever little site, I can't access their website, or phone number. Is there any way I can get my info back??? Otherwise I have to re write the WHOLE thing all over again.

I have to assume they have gone bust or disappeared, I'm so effing annoyed I can't tell you. If anyone has any ideas on how I can get the info back I would be 'kneeling at your feet' grateful.

How long have you had the site? Yep, link is definately broken, just tried it. Do you know if anyone else is having any problems?

I've done a "ping" on www.blissful-thinking.co.uk - and the server that it is hosted on is ds42099.dedicated.interdns.co.uk (with the IP address 83.170.124.170) - but yes your website still appears to be down.

And a "whois" on your domain name is coming up with the following details:

Domain name:
blissful-thinking.co.uk

Registrant:
Blissful Thinking

Registrant type:
Unknown

ns2.cleverlittlesite.com

Also, like you say, www.cleverlittlesite.com is down too. But a ping of them goes to a server called cleverlittlesite.com on IP address 83.170.125.75 (which is probably owned by the same hosting company).

And a WHOIS of cleverlittlesite.com gives the following details:

This is useful as it gives an address and phone number in St Albans - so you might be able to give them a phone and see what is happening...

Rather worrying though :(

Also, there is a Google cache of the underlying HTML - Blissful Thinking - but sadly not any of the images or cascading style sheets by the look of it... so at least you'll be able to salvage the HTML content from Google's cache... but (assuming the worst comes to the worst) you'd then need to get the graphic design for your site done again unless that can be found in a web cache somewhere...

Thanks Ruth, could you do me a favour though, could you delete your first post, its my home address under Blissful Thinking. I tried the primate designs number but its not even ringing. I've saved the other info so would you mind deleting it please. Thanks again;)

Have edited the post to remove your address - sorry! Although that information is currently freely available to anyone doing a "whois" lookup on your domain - so you may want to get in touch with Nominet to get them to not display your address details - as it's possible to do a "whois opt-out" for UK domains where a "whois" lookup doesn't show address details...

Thanks, I looked into that hiding my info, I think its only for .com's or something like that.

not quite on topic, but i thought if the website is for a business you cannot opt out from showing your details? thats what nominet told me as I wanted to opt to on a website I made.

Something like that, I can't remember the reason why.

Britmacgirl, I had the website for since before christmas, they were always really good about getting back to me with stuff etc. This is such a pain!

Lots of people do opt out even so though. On 123-reg it is just a question of ticking a box when you buy the domain.

You can opt out if you're co.uk but not if you're .com

Hope you get it sorted soon Suki...I've used terrible web-hosts in the past and learnt my lesson the hard way!

It is possible to buy "WHOIS privacy" too, e.g. 123-reg charge £4.99 a year for a .com domain where they essentially use a "proxy address" for your domain name rather than your own contact details...

i am with 123reg and ticked to opt out and it was to begin with.. until my nominet registration come through and they told me i cant opt out as they can clearly see that its a business site and have made the necessary changes to show my details, and that was on both .co.uk and .com

Ah I see... so if you are concerned about your details being visible, then the "WHOIS privacy" service with the proxy address would probably be the best thing then...

Thanks guys, I'm starting my re write now. I'm not looking forward to it. the thing I think I'm most pee'd off about is all my testimonials have gone.

I am not actually bothered as my address is on website too, but just wanted to tell others that may want to try and hide address xx
