I think Vistaprint do let you edit your keywords and description, but it's not obvious how to do so (it took me a while to find the particular page that lets you do that when I was helping someone else out with a Vistaprint site a few months ago). It would be useful to do this, as having the keywords and description set does help with getting your site listed on search engines (incidentally these are known as "meta tags" for the techies lol)...
Another crucial thing to do is to get as many links in to your site from as many different places as possible, e.g. add a text link to your site to your signature on salongeek and any other forums you are on; make use of free listings web sites such as FreeIndex and Hotfrog where you can list your business and put a link in to your website for free; set up a Facebook group or page for your salon and invite all your Facebook friends to join it; consider swapping links with other web sites (e.g. geeky friends who are suitably far away geographically from you so as not to be in direct competition), etc...
Then you can also do better in search engine results by being careful about how you word the text on your page, e.g. mention any brand names of products that you use, mention the names of other towns nearby as well as the town or city that you are based in (e.g. My salon is based in Nottingham, but is also within reasonable distance of Derby, Mansfield, Sutton in Ashfield and Loughborough).
But (especially in terms of Google), the thing that will probably make the biggest difference is getting as many links in as possible to your site...
