Has anyone tried the website service through Vistaprint?

I have not tried the websites but I have had their business cards, I do freewebs for my m8s, they are good enought sites, esp for people starting up a business, no real outlay unless you want additional extras.

Hi Suzy,

I have my website through Vistaprint. I have to so far so good, easy to set up and maintain. Good points include beign able to monitor site activity, e-mail & order customised business cards, etc, to match.

I would however advise you to set up the payment on a credit card, when I did my research, I read a few horror stories of Vista taking money from peoples account without notice, not sure how true that is but better to be safe, at least you are protected with a CC.

Their rates are reasonable too, I pondered as to whether to use Freewebs or Vista and thought Vista came out on top. Just my opinion though! :)

If you need anymore information hun PM me.

No (not yet) Ive been pondering over it for a while but hadnt heard of anyone else using it here. Im hearing mostly about freewebs. Ive looked at both sites and i thought it would be nice to have my website the same as the business cards ive got. Thanks for your comments everyone :)

Hiya, I use Vistaprint's lowest price website and am quite pleased. Please note, though, that apparently whilst setting it up, I "requested" to join not one, but 2 "awards schemes" provided by a company completely unrelated to Vistaprint (just an advertiser on their site). By doing this I apparently gave permission for them to demand 2 x £9.95 per month from my Credit Card. When I complained last week, they were having none of it and said I should have read the details more closely. They would not refund the 2 x £9.95 already paid, but refunded the 2 payments about to appear on my next Credit Card statement, and my "accounts" have been cancelled. It was a very frustrating experience .....

Oh no! You have me worried now! I'm hoping I haven't clicked on something and agreed to this without realising!!

Tee hee, hopefully (unlike me) you won't have. Look out for emails from "membershipsavings@vprewards" or "membershipsavings@clubprem". Apparently I deleted emails from them thinking they were just unsolicited emails, but they were confirming my membership details! x

iv already got website with 1&1 site builder but its not want i want anyway i was wondering how easy it is to do the domain pointing thing and also how do i keep my current email address with vistaprint site ?

Hi, If its any use to you ive been with them for over a year now.

jamesroddenphotography.com

Not any major problems, not the cheapest site but still good. Lost count of the work i've given to professionals such as yourself, as I feel it should be left to people such as yourself.!! One comment id like to make is that i've seen some great work on here, nails etc and the only thing that's let them down is the lack of light or detail in some of the photos. Other than that id be more than happy to recommend most of what i've seen on here. If any of you are local to me... then let me know!..

Good luck in your search for a site.

Jimmy.

VistaPrint seem OK if you're happy to settle for one of their templates (which will normally co-ordinate with their business cards etc); the downside is that countless other businesses will use the same template, so you'll end up with a website that looks similar to lots of other people's.

Hi I have a website with vista print and found that although its cheap and ok to use i often hit a blank wall. basically i find that sometimes the ease of navigation and ease of editing is just not there and can sometimes be extremely frustrating to use. i am keeping it live for now but am having a proper website done with salon alchemy.

hi you can get free website from www.webs .com you can choose to pay for your own domain but i chose not to eg just started mine [email protected] hope this helps

Webs.com seem OK too if you don't mind being restricted to their templates; although I think the free option puts a banner of Google advertising at the top of each page (which doesn't look so professional), and like you said, you have to pay extra for a dedicated domain name rather than one ending in webs.com

I use Vistaprint for my website which I found easy to set up, edit etc. I like that they match up your website style to your business cards and all other related items you can get with them. The stats page is very informative and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I use Vistaprint for exactly that reason - I wanted my business cards, flyers, website etc. to all look the same. Create a "business identity" if you like. I found it easy to use and set up.

As someone else said, you can also monitor activity on the site.

Good luck!

I've recently started creating a website with 1and1 and I'm pretty disappointment with the choice of templates. My question is..........If I went with Vistaprint to do my website to match my business cards etc, would I have the same domain name etc? I also have email addressess linked to the 1and1 website. Would I be able to keep those too?

I looked into Vista for a website and I noticed the domain ended with .vp.co.uk whereas mine ends with just the .co.uk

Am I making sense? :irked:

Sorry if this seems a foolish question, I am just not that 'up' on computers :green:

The ideal solution would be to keep your domain with 1and1, and ask Vistaprint if it's possible for you to update DNS (domain name service) settings for your domain to point to their server that is hosting your site (which you would need to do via the 1and1 control panel - specifically they would need to let you know the IP address[es] of the web server), and for them to configure their server to host your website so it gets served up on your domain name (which they would need to do).

That way, the domain name and email stays with 1and1, but you get the Vistaprint website displayed when you enter your domain name into a web browser.
