hi

ive recently set myself up as a mobile beautician, i would like to know what you all think of my website - its a free website through moonfruit cos i cant afford a professional site yet and i will be looking to buy a domain name ~( what do you think of my name):
i will be adding a few more details - maybe a qualifications page, and radius covered.

is there anything else you can see that would need improving.

i appreciate your comments

thanks

tina

yes i really like it! the images are great! best of luck to you x

I think you need an about you section not personal ,But professional
You should get a more pro sounding e mail address it looks like ? Your personal one?
Are the photos you have ones that your aloud to use?
You might get a lot of traffic from people trying to go to http://www.beauty-boxes.com/ <--- a VERY popular web site!

I THINK CHANGE THE FONT ON YOUR PRICE LIST TO , AND MAYBE ADD SOME PICS TO BREAKE IT UP A BIT ,
Ooops sorry for the cap letters my keyboard is acting up!
I also think mention the brand names that you use for treatments some clients like to know ,
free websites can look good to , it takes time though and alot of work :)

NO!!! You can't just use random pics off the internet, even if there is no copyright mark... doing so leaves you open to being sued by companies like Getty Images and Corbis Images... I know of quite a few people who have used images (e.g. from a Google Image Search) without permission or a licence, and have received demands of hundreds of pounds for copyright infringement, with the threat of being taken to court if they don't pay up!

If you don't know the source of an image, then you don't know if it's owned by a company like Getty or Corbis, who routinely use an Israeli company called PicScout to search the Web for them looking for unlicensed images. So you're playing a game of Russian Roulette if you don't know who owns the copyright to the image... if it's Getty or Corbis, and PicScout finds the image on your site, then expect a big bill!!!

Far better to spend a few quid legally buying the images you need from websites such as fotolia.com, istockphoto.com or dreamstime.com - and that way, you're supporting the photographers who took them too, as the photographer in question gets a royalty each time someone buys a licence to use their image...

Hi,I'm just after looking at your site and I like it..Well done!!

hi ruth

you've scared me now in regards to the images. the images such as the nsi and cuccio pictures, would i get permission from them or would some1 else own the photos.

thanks

just had a look at photobucket, i of the photos i use is on there so thats allowed isnt it cos photobucket is photo sharing.

just thought as well if i took my own pics of my products - is that allowed.

sorry for going on but i cant afford a big bill.

thanks

It's always best to ask permission from NSI and Cuccio just to be on the safe side... normally companies are happy for you to use their logo and promotional images on your website if you use their products, as it's extra advertising for them.

However, there's always the chance that they may themselves have paid for a licence to use stock photos (e.g. the Nouvatan website uses an image of a lady on a beach which was purchased from iStockPhoto - so while it's fine for that image to be used on the Nouvatan website [as Nouvatan paid for a licence to use the image], it wouldn't be OK for someone else to use that image unless they also paid for a licence). So it's always worth checking.

With Photobucket, I'd be inclined to send the owner of the photo a message to ask for permission just out of courtesy. As if you've got written permission to use the image (e.g. an email), and then the photographer subsequently sells that image to a stock photo company (e.g. Getty or Corbis), then that should be enough proof that you have permission to use the image and hence not be liable for any damages for breach of copyright.

I'm saying that because I read recently that Getty Images have recently done a deal with Flickr, where Flickr users are able to sell their images to Getty's stock library. So it's possible that someone may have the same image on Photobucket and Flickr, and also sell the image to Getty. So really it's just a question of courtesy and making sure that you're covered.

But you should be perfectly fine to take your own pics of your products and use those on your website. I'd say that's actually preferable to stock pics in fact, as your own pics will be more representative of your business.

Sorry to sound so paranoid over copyright, but given what I've heard (and the experiences of other therapists I know who have been caught out in the past), it's absolutely crucial to be meticulous over the use of images on your website, as the damages these companies ask for if they find an unlicensed image on your website is exorbitant and could be crippling to a small business - so it's a far better bet to get everything right from the start than to take a chance and be faced with a large bill a year or two down the line...

You've got a spelling mistake on your home page - just above your phone number, you've spelled alternatively wrong. There also seems to be a random date stamp about half way down each page - not sure what's going on there!

I think your photo on your About Me page, although it's a lovely photo, is not a very professional image, it looks very casual. Do you have one that has a more professional look to it? Maybe more of a portrait style with you in your beauty uniform? A couple of times on the same page, you say that you 'done courses', it should be that you 'did courses'.

On the page headings at the top, in the grey bar, I actually find it quite difficult to read them as the difference between the two greys is not that big. And please can you call yourself a Beauty Therapist rather than a beautician?

On the massage page, I think you need a short explanation of what a figure analysis is, I don't think many people would understand what you mean.

Overall, though, I really like the look and feel of the website. It's very easy to use and you haven't got too much information on there, just enough to make your treatments clear.

Hi. Just thought I'd tell you that on your enhancements price page, it says fireglass, i think you missed a 'b' out. :D
Under the bit where it says...GEL / ACRYLIC OR FIBREGLASS NAIL EXTENSIONS
Leanne XxXx

hi

thanks for the corrections, i will work on them today.
i dont have a picture of myself in uniform so maybe in the meantime i will use one of my professional photos from when i had a makeover.
