Hello Geeks

How many of you geeks have weblinks added to their website of other geeks?

There are so many specialty treatments available that each of us could promote for each other without treading on each others toes.

........and would you recommend a geek in the same area? As even if there treatments aren't quite the same it is direct competition and I know form experience that clinets will either go for the cheapest or the friendlist.. If your both! Brilliant! :)
(sorry to hijack and add an additional question)

Hiya,

It depends on the treatments, if most are the same thwwn it's not worth marketing other geeks, if the treatments are different then it's worth thhe marketing.

It's a great idea to promote each other and have several cross links to each others website.

Just was thinking about it today and thought that we havve a great way of networking our profession

What part of London are you at and what treatments do you offer

HIYA!!

I think I still disagree, realistically if your linking local salons, I think your potential client loss could be increased.. and again I dont see a point to linking nationally as someone will be looking in their region for salons, it's unlikely they will search, for example; 'London' when they actually want one in Warwickshire. Just my thoughts! I don't have a website yet anyway (probably should get on with it)...

But good luck matey!! It's not my bag, but I've seen others doing it so I am sure you'll get some add's soon. :green:

Hello,

What i mean by linking other salons, I'm sure by doing it this way you would increse your search ability for new clients.

I see what you mean as local competition, but it's worth getting a link to other outer area's, as i'm sure this will get you more rec on search engines?

Can any of you geeks that are tech minded add to this, would this increase our chance at finding our services on Google and other search engines, or am i dreaming again.

It was just a thought to help each other out and potentially help our business.

If you are techy minded can you please help on this one. does it help our recognition on these search engines or not???:)

Given this a lot of thought Jen and I don't think it's a good idea. I might put a link to say a good restuarnt but not to another salon. That'd be like Pizza Hut putting a link to Pizza Express on their site. Aside from the potential biz loss, I wouldn't want to recommend something I hadn't tried myself. xx

Oh of course Kim, you are right on track, as alway's babe.
Was just having a thought today at what i could do, thought this would help out and wondered how many geeks have links to other geeks sites. And if it works well or not?
research & research

I might be wrong but I thought that if you x-linked your web site with others - even in a totally different area than your it increases your site awareness to search engines?

Seanny is our expert on this and I am sure not so unless I misunderstood there is a benefit to cross linking to other sites.

Hi, I have a couple of close by nail techs on my website on a link page that says recommeded techs and beauticians. They are of course my friends! one is a beautician as well as a nail tech and one is an l&p tech and i dont offer l&p I dont offer beauty either. They have never had a client from my link page and if i cant cater for a clients needs i recommend these and say check out my website for their details. I do not however recommend the local salon who I am in strict competition with.

Yeah, I have leaflets for the people i have treatments by (not beauty as i am yet to find a good therapist!!) but for holistics and hypnotherapy. I ALWAYS reccomend them to my clients. Even if i get people in for massage, i prefer to send them to the holistic clinic i use because i think they will benefit much more! I wouldnt have their money when i know theres a specialist i can send them to!

Aside from the potential biz loss, I wouldn't want to recommend something I hadn't tried myself. xx

Hiya Geeks,

I'm sure this would be of benefit to us if we could link up with techs, beauty therapist and specialty services that we are sure offer a fab treatment and service.

but how awful would you feel if one of your clients went to a salon you had linked and got botched!! eeek!! i do think Kims right about experiencing it first hand!

as much as this site is full of talent, and being a geek is as good as a personal recommendation because generally speaking it means we care about our profession, unless it was a geek i was particularly close to i still dont know how comfortable i would feel sending my clients their way. I think im making sense. lol.
