Hi,

I am doing a wedding fayre this Sunday to promote my salon and its services. I am a little bit stuck for what to take so was looking for some advice please! I was planning on taking the following:

- portable manicure table to offer shape and polishes on the day
- advanced facial and inch loss machines to display and promote
- gift bags
- flyers and brochures
- Cupcakes with our logo on

I am also taking my PDQ machine and a cash tin plus an appointment book should any one wish to book on the day.

Is there any thing else that i have missed that i should be taking?

Hi,

To a certain extent it depends on the set up at your individual venue. Do they provide tables, chairs, access to electricity etc (some stands may be in the middle of a room and not have mains access). Are you allowed banners, either on the wall or on stands (be prepared to "negotiate" with near by stall holders regarding their placement, sight lines etc as everyone wants the brides to see their stall.

Regardless take plenty of flyers / leaflets, business cards and product / treatment information. some fairs have goodie bags that you can put them in before the fair, some let you put them out on chairs around the cat walk shows and don't forget on our stall itself.

A smile, sense of humor and loads of stamina are important as well. You need to be working the crowd and talking to as meany people as possible. If there are a number of you going that helps because you can talk to more than one party at the same time.

Guests tend to come through in waves so use the off peak time to your advantage and network like mad with the other stall holders who may have a synergy with you (photographers, dress makers etc) Can you cross promote each other? Ask the more experienced ones which events are the best, there may be many wedding fairs locally but some will have a a good reputation for people getting bookings and others will be better to miss if you are on a limited budget.

If you can get bookings on the day, always take a non refundable deposit to secure a date. But be aware that many people are there just to see whats going on and in some cases will not be tying the knot for a couple of years yet. So its as much about getting your face and name known, making a good impression and hoping they come back down the line.

Finally don't forget to enjoy yourself! Wedding fairs can be great fun but are absolutely knackering! And if its the journal wedding fair in oriel house in North Wales that you are going to I will see you there.

Forgot to say, if it is an all day event / longer than a few hours take some high carb food and drinks with you as you probably won't have time to run around trying to find it at the venue and they tend to be expensive if you buy on site as well.

I've got a few booked up for extensions - excited!!! I'm going to be making up goody bags and getting loads of leaflets printed, I'm also giving away vouchers for £10 off hair extensions plus an upgraded aftercare kit. Also instead of business cards ill be giving key rings with my logo and contact details. I enquired a company to make these for me but it was too expensive so I bought 250 plain ones off ebay and got a load of card inserts to be printed at a local print shop, I will just have to pop them in the key rings. Personally, I think people will keep this rather then a business card. Xx
