Yesterday i had a customer not turn up. i rang her after about 15 minutes and she said her dog had ate one of her shoes and she couldnt come in.

and was just about to call (yes i bet).

anywhoo apparently it was her only pair and she'd call to re-arrange... (yes i bet)..

what the weirdest excuse you've had for not turning up or being really late...?

LOL, how funny. My client's just don't seem to be that imaginative, they either give me an honest reason or tell me they forgot.

ive had a loads of my car broke down... i find it hard to imagine that many cars break down in london just when there on there way to my salon..

:)

my latest one is my husband has just thrown me out and im packing boxes

I once had a : the brigde just closed.... Ok theres was a storm, but as I called when she should have been with me and theres at least 2,5 hours drive to nearest bridge I was like: UHmmm:irked: and you didn't call me why?

Not salon related, my sister once cancelled a restaurant reservation and said she'd lost the person she was supposed to be going with. They said I hope you find them. Her Boyfriend just couldn't get the night off work. Perfectly acceptable reason.

She was pregnant at the time and kept saying silly things.

I have had : It's too windy to come out, my money is not here, I didn't think I'd get parked... the list is endless!

The funny thing is, now I take deposits and they turn up! :green:

Sorry I'm late, my cat caught a bird and it died and I had to bury it in the garden before I left.
( hope you washed your hands then luvvy . . . )

I had one reoffender of this (I now do not take her calls) the one that sticks in my head was that her and her daughter had some kind of rash that was contagious...............but my friend saw her and child at nursery that afternoon! why not just say "i'm sorry but I'm skint, really bust etc honesty seems to allude these weirdos lol

The best one I had was when we were getting some snow and I had a client scheduled after work. She came in and I thought "good she's here as scheduled". She told me that she wasn't going to stay, but wanted to drop by on her way home and let me know. I was thinking "are you kidding me?" I was in shock. Just when you think you've heard it all??

yes ive had this too... i didnt know what to say either..

this is why phones were invented

The problem is that despite the endless excuses, genuine or not, could customers not just pick up the phone and ring to apologise and let you know that they can't make the appointment !! It is not rocket science and it is good manners!

i had a lady booked in for today i rang to confirm her booking yesterday.

and she said i cant make it ve just booked a flight today for 2moro...

You really do have some strange clients Leonnie! x
Luckily, my clients are all too scared of me to make silly excuses. They know they wont get another chance!

i dont get why.. really.. they can just call and say i dont want to do it.... simple:idea:

but at least im not the only one ...lol

I rang a client who was 15mins late, she forgot her appt. because she had a baby!!
10 months on she called to rebook and I still see her. At least she did not lie she was just preoccupied.

I have had some that lie tho, sad lot!

Stuff happens in life and I think we all accept that. I am the first to sympathise with a client having a genuine disaster.
We are talking about the timewasters who book appointments and decide on the day that they cant be arsed, or cant afford to keep thier slot.
A very experienced colleauge told me years ago that there will always be clients, so not to worry about the ones that timewaste or wind you up. never be afraid to lose those clients as more will take their place.
