Hi guys just wondered if any one could give me some advice on the following...
I have been doing my mums nails since beginning my training early last year and have had no problems what so ever but last week I soaked off her L&P extensions and on a couple of the nails there was this very srange look quite hard to explain really but it looked like the nails had been forced off you know that white mark where the nail plate has lifted from the bed but this hadnt happened as i soaked and buffed them off as I do with all my clients I am positive its not fungal as the colour is all wrong but its really bugging me as to what these marks are its such a shame as they look bloody awful without polish on and not a good advertisment for me either any advice you can give would be fab
thanks in advance x

any chance of a pic?

I dont have a camera unfortunately .

Hi sounds to me as though the nail has lifted off the bed it doesn't mean theres anything wrong with the way you removed the nails. She may of knocked them causing them to lift. I recommend sav-your-nails by dr eric brown look it up on line. It fabb and sticks the natural nail back to the nail bed as well as getting rid of or preventing fungal infections. L x

sounds like leuchonichia...white marks caused by damage to the nail...i get that all the time from banging into things lol...you can cover it with polish to hide the marks

Can either be leuchonichia, onycholisis or a slight derailing.

My thoughts too Sass,

Is it possible your mums extensions were a little too long? Too much length means clients sometimes catch them more often, which can lead to onycholisis x

It is most likely to be patches of surface dehydration which can occur after long periods of wearing enhancements.

Solar Oil every day to help rehydrate and they will soon disappear.

The lovely Geeg is on the money here.

Also you state you soaked them off (acetone) this can seriously dehydrate the nail plate leading to whitish looking nails, most of the time copious amounts of solar oil massaged into the nail plate will make these white cloudy patches disappear.

My nails will go WHITE when I soak off, to the extent that I have to use coverage powders or a nice CB to cover them up.. I normally leave 24 hours between soak off and re-application so I can massage in nail oil and let them rehydrate again.. next day apply as per usual and they are fine and dandy.
