just wondering, as we've all had some bad or embarrassing experiences at the salon or spa... what do therapists sometimes do that really bugs you?

Don't know about anyone else, but the last few times I've had my hair done, I've had the colour washed out and then as I sit down for the cut, the stylist says. 'I've had a client come in early, it's only a trim, do you mind if I cut her hair first?'
Of course!! I was there first! And I also don't want to add 30 mins to my appt time to just sit in a chair with wet hair, I have better things to do!

I always avoid having my hair coloured on a Saturday, as you usually book in your normal hairdresser to do it,and usually end up having somebody else colouring it , somebody else wash it , your usual hairdresser cut it and then somebody else dry it because your hairdressers too busy:irked:.I d rather book her in the week when I just have her to do my hair ..at the end of the day ,thats who I booked the appointment with for!!

My reply is easy: I hate it when the stylist gets tons of personal phone calls and if she's running late, I wonder why in the heck she doesn't just call me on my cell so I know?

I dumped my last nail gal and long-time hair stylist just because of these two things.

I think that sometimes we forget that we still have to provide outstanding customer service even though we own our own business. I try to always treat my clients like family (yes, like family!) and the way I want to be treated: With respect.

Additionally, there's a ton of competition out there! Just like I did last summer, your client could be the one to say, "ta ta!" in a heartbeat. A lost client (unless you don't enjoy their company anyways) is lost income and not just them, but all the other "pay it forward" word-of-mouth referrals that come from just one happy client.

My 2 cents for what it's worth! love, kelly

What really bugs me is if the therapist is really disorganised, and keeps making excuses that this has happened and that has happened that is why they are so all over the place, that then makes me feel I am putting them out and then I can't wait to leave the salon!!

I hate it when the therapist doesn't tell you what to do, ie get undressed and lie under the blanket on your back.

But my biggest bugbear is when the therapist just goes through the motions, theres no love or heart and soul going into the treatment, just 1, 2, 3 and 4,5,6.

I had a facial on monday and didn't get a consultation, she asked me what my skin type was then proceeded with the facial, she said things like "this is the cleansing stage" in a REALLY BORED AUTOMATED VOICE.

for me it has to be when your at the hair dressers and they are washing your hair mainly the jnr's....why o why do they have to remove half your make-up at the same time :irked: then sit you up with a nourishing treatment on for 10 minutes so everyone els can see your makeup half missing!

ok we all have bug bares

however i recently had some SPM doing at a local salon which i havent been in for a while but normally was very calming and soothing and a blissfull backdrop

anyway once had my numbing cream on it happened my life was about to seriously change, i was in hell and i mean hell. this awful music started to play and it was so loud i had to complain there was me - bricking it as was about to be beautified by a needle and there was this music that was making me feel like get me out of here.

i had to complain which i hate doing and ask to have it turned down as it was so loud as well to which i was told that they couldnt turn it down without turning it down in the rest of the salon - to which i added that i couldnt lay and have my treatment done so it was turned off. oh well wasnt going to say anything again that was bad enough.

hasten to say i was meant to go back and have it topped up but havent due to the rudness of the staff and my uncomfortablesness with the salon. never mind i guess i would of loved to have it toped up but unfortunately it doesnt look like it will happen.

cest le vie

i can not understand why the music was loud and it wasnt even soothing salon music either

hey ho

oh righto!!!
was wondering if it was a new electrolysis or summat!
he! he!

I hate bored, disinterested staff.
Staff who are allowed to chew gum
Staff who smell of cigarette smoke
Staff who look ropey and ungroomed
Salons which need a good clean and a lick of paint
Snooty receptionists
Piped music if it's not my taste in music and there's no facility to switch it off
Being hurried
Being kept waiting
Not knowing what's going on
Getting the feeling that they're just going through the motions

I'd better stop now!

all of the above! LOL!
at the end of the day though calla, don't you think that it makes you a smug bunny cos you make sure that YOU don't do any of the above. I always imagine that the client is ME and how I would like to be treated.

I have a lady dentist, quite young, but she explains everything that she's going to do, in great detail, with no patronising tones, as if I was her only client. I always come out of there thinking what a fab person. I would like to emulate her techniques.

I don't like to be talked to during a beauty treatment unless I ask a question. I like silence during a facial and particularly the massage ... well all the time if I am honest. I have enough social interaction everyday without having it when I want to relax.

The therapist i used to go to was always trying to have a conversation when you are half asleep and relaxed during a massage.

i don't like Staff who are allowed to chew gum..that smacking noise drives me crazy and how unhygienic
Being hurried is another one i hate being kept waiting and not knowing what's going on and that's me as a client. Now my friend and i swap treatments every once a week.

I dont like conversation through a massage or a facial...unless Ive asked and want an answer.

I dont like therapists who dont wash their hands (i make sure they do before they touch my face)

Who smell of smoke, (breath and clothes)

Over smell of the latest perfume (which was prob from the previous night out)which leads me on too

talking about their latest antics with their latest boyfriend/girlfriend

A GTTMT (going through the motions therapist)

:) You asked lol

i know this is an old post and i found it by searching for something else but i HAVE to post. i hate hate hate when i have treatments and bits are missed, like for eg. i had a facial at a posh spa in a hotel (which just makes it worse because it was supposed to be oober doober luxury) and they missed my top lip! i felt like i could actually feel the dirt still on my top lip compared to everywhere else at the end of it i had to go to the car and use my childs baby wipes to wipe my top lip over just to feel even and like it wasn't full of dirt! x
