HI Geeks!!!

I am in need of some advice please..... I have recently trained as a nail tech (prob shouldn't say who I trained with) my training included manicure, pedicure and acrylic. I love the product I choose to go with but not really happy with the training I received. My reason for this thread is do I complain to the company or am I being too fussy????

Right my first day was training for my manicure and pedicure. The trainer explained that as we (there was only 2 of us on this course) would not be receiving our tools till we started the acrylic part so for the first day we would just be going over the basics, the products, theory and massage. This was fine at the time as we were told that we would be going back over this. So we went over the basics for manicure and in the afternoon it was meant to be pedicure.... but instead she pulled out a video and we watched that instead of any practical. This was also fine at the time as we were gong to be going over this during our acrylic course.

So during our acrylic training it all started out fine for the first 2 days!!! When it came to our models the trainer was easily distracted... some times way to busy chatting and sitting down that she didn't even watch what we were doing nor did she really check what we were doing. We didn't even complete a full set of nails ever in front of her!!! When it came to the practical it was always "I just need to see you do a couple of fingers" I think I only reblanced about 3 or 4 fingers in her presence. I was also under the impression that we would be shown how to soak of the nails but instead she just told us how to do it and said look in your books!!!
When we asked when we would be going over manicure and pedicure she said we don't need to, we did try to argue with her but she didn't want to know!!!
So at the end of my training I have never done a pedicure, never done a full manicure, she didin't go through nail polish and had to figure out for myself by reading a manual how to soak of enhancments!!!

My training wasn't cheap, it was with a good company and I did loads of research before choosing them.

Sorry its a long thread but any views on this would be great as I don't know what to do, I feel like she took the money but didn't care about us at all!!!!????!!!

Thanks in advance xxxxxxxxxxxx

I would most certainly write to the Head Office (if there is one) or to the Training Acadamy advising them of the issues that you have regarding the Training you were given.

It sounds to me as if the Educator lacked interest in her pupils, and that is really unfair, as these courses are certainly not cheap, and you need to feel confident that you have been taught well in all aspects of what the Course offered. You don't need to feel "short changed", and it sounds like you have been.

Good luck x

Hi Hun,

I'm so sorry to hear that you feel disapointed with your training. Training is meant to be enjoyable as well as educational.

I was extremly lucky with my educator and, she is still on hand if I ever need her, which is what you should expect from a company.

I agree with MollyLolly, you should contact the company that you trained with and say that you were unhappy with some of the aspects of the training. You said that they are a good company so I am sure that they will be willing to help you.

Are you still in contact with the other person on the course? If that person was unhappy too it might be worth while that you both contact the company together.

Why were you getting any tools until you started the acrylic part of the course?

So, let me get this.. you had no tools or products to use to do a manicure & pedicure course? you read a manual and watched a video??

We had the products and files but the tools for the cuticle work was included in the acrylic kit. The manicure and pedicre course was like an add on course that you normally take after the acrylics but she wanted to do it the other way round due to dates she had available. It sounded like a good idea as she said that we were going to do more of the manicure and pedicure during the acrylic days. We did practical for manicure but no cuticle work and no practical on pedicure!!!!

My advise would to be to contact the company or local distributor/representative in writing explaining that you were not satisfied with the education you received and why? A reputable company will take on board your concerns, and will investigate the issue. Unfortunately companies are only as good as their representatives, and will appreciate the feedback from you. I would expect the courtesy of a written reply. Most educators have such a passion for what they do and usually go over and beyond to help their students, sadly in this case it apparently was not so.

The fact that you did the course the 'wrong' way round was due to her situation with dates, so you should have got the products you needed so that you could have done the mani & pedi properly.

Just phone her and tell her you are not happy - you don't have to go mad about it. Hopefully she will put you on the next mani & pedi course again free of charge. From what you say, it sounds like that's only fair.

Have you paid for these 'add on' courses??
