Hi Geeks
I'm off on my hols next Sat and while I'm packing I'm finding that the one thing I'm puzzled with is what to wear on the plane!!!

We are off to Egypt Sharm el Shikeh and it will be hot when we get there but it will prob be cold here!!!!
When we fly back we'll will arrive in newcastle at 2 in the morning we'll be freezing!!!

so what do you wear for the journey so that you're not too hot or cold and still look good?

Any suggestions for an 11 year old boy too?

I wear something like linen trousers and a vest, with a cardi in my hand luggage. I am always too excited to notice the cold! For your son how about some trousers that can zip off into shorts!? If not i think he'd be fine in long shorts and a Tshirt with a light jacket in hand luggage- hell probably be like me and too excited to worry! Also, you'll mostly be going from home to airport by car/ bus and spending a lot of time inside so wont get too cold (the opposite for the way back).
Have a great holiday!

Im going away soon and will probably where either some cropped jeans vest and cardi in hand luggage or some cropped leggings and longish top with a nice belt. When i was little we all used to get new tracksuits for going away lol!! We were behind the times in cornwall and shellsuits were big for a few years  We all cringe when we look at the photos from the airport.
I went to sharm last April it was fab you will love it.

I always wear a vest top with some comfy light trousers (not jeans) and a cardi over the top. Then i keep a pair of shorts in my carry on bag and change into them either in the toilet or when i land.

Then when coming back, i do the reverse. Wear my shorts and keep my light, crease free trousers in my bag.

Long shorts and t-shirt for your son, with a long sleeved top that he can put in his bag or tie around his waist.

Have a great time xx

I feel very look to have done a lot of flying over the years. Top tips for flying ... above all comfort! Your going to be sitting down for a good few hours, so you want to be comfortable. Then think about the destination climate ... if its warm you want a top you can take off easily, or if coming back to the damp cold something to put on when you get here.

Keep your hand luggage small, its awkward to carry around and find things on the plane in it. Remember the restrictions on liquids - all under 100ml and in a clear bag, and this includes makeup and lipsticks. Best thing - take nothing and buy what you need airside. The restriction only applies to the security check to get airside.

A wee tip for you -
There is always a massive queue at Sharm airport to get through passport/visa control. So take comfy shoes as there is a lot of hanging about before you get to your bus. Don't buy a visa unless you are intending to go out of the resort. You won't need one. They seem to have loads of planes arriving at the same time and it creates chaos. :irked:
