Hi everyone. I'm having some troubles and wondered if ya'll could help.

I've only graduated this past August and have been working at this place for about 2 months now. I don't like it for many reasons, but one reason is my pay. I get 40 % commission off of my services, however they are discounted because of package deals etc. If they wanted a pedicure first then added on a massage, my service gets discounted, for example.

Normally I am doing 20$ manicures and 38$ pedicures. So 40% of that plus whatever my tip works out to be. Is that good pay?

do you get to keep all your tips or do they go into a community jar that is split? The reason I ask if the people tip well, then as a trainee I wouldn't get too upset overmuch over the 40% split. However, I would consider after six months or so, and happy clients, to work with the salon owner to change to more favourable terms. You are in TN, but where? There is a world of difference between Memphis and Nashville......

I know the $$$ can seem frustrating in the beginning but look at it this way: It's great experience! You'll build your skills and confidence and eventually, you'll be making more $$$.

Stick with it...it IS worth it! :)
