Hello, I have been slowly working my way through each type of nail system training courses. I have been trying to decide which course to do next and have been considering Fibreglass. However, I can't seem to find anywhere what exactly is Fibreglass. Also, what does it look like? If anyone works with it, can you please tell me if there are different types and if so, what type would be best for a new person to use? Thank you in advance for all advice and help given.

Hello, I am choosing my next nail course and the two choices are Airbrushing/Nail Art Course and Fibreglass/Nail Art Course. I am a starting Mobile Nail Technician who focuses on Natural Nails and Nail Art. I am looking for something that will go well with nail art. So, my question is, for the people who use either of these systems, what are the advantages and disadvantages of either or both? Which do you prefer and why? Also, which do you recommend I choose? I will eventually learn both ways, but only have enough funds at the moment for one of the courses. Thank you in advance for any help and advice given.

Hello Sunnyside ... Welcome to thesalongeek

Now brace yourself, because you may not want to hear the following advice but I'm going to give it anyway  as I do!

It sounds to me as if you want a super fast entry into the nail world for the sole purpose of doing 'nail art' which is obviously your first love.

Setting up to do airbrushed nail art is very expensive indeed and a fairly long learning curve as it takes allot of practice, equipment and skill. There is also minimal call for it because it takes too much time and is too expensive. There are a few that specialise in it but it is not generally in salons.

Using Fibreglass is almost extinct these days so not a good choice.

Getting started with a good manicure course is the first thing you should be looking at doing as without proper preparation of the nails, nothing else you do will either last or look good. I highly recommend the Nails Naturally course from CND ... It is the best you will find. If you already have a manicure certificate then go straight to your second move below.

Second move is to get into CND Shellac and master painting which includes all sorts of nail art with additives, glitters, stencils etc. you would adore it. Using Shellac also will give you business in the meantime so you can save up for more! If you are already using a UV cured colour system then go to your third move below.

Your third move, you can attend the CND Brisa Lite classes and get into further options such as sculpting enhancements and adding solutions to clients with problem nails. AND THEN MY DEAR! YOU WILL BE IN BUSINESS and able to do the most popular services on demand today.

Last bit of advice. If you are not flush with money, then spend it wisely. Choose a career path like the one I have laid out for you and you can be on your way at the end of this year; making money as you go and starting your business with the best products and education behind you.

Ring Sweet Squared on 08452106060 and discuss with one of the friendy people there, how and where you get started. This is the best advice you'll get today! :D

Please, please follow Geeg's advice! It's the best you will get. We see so many techs rush into nail art before they can polish or build the perfect nail. I've read countless times "my smile lines were wonky so I threw on some nail art"!

Geeg is so right, honestly! Save up and get the best training possible. I did it the 'cheap' way and then ended up paying out again to learn it right with sweet squared. And the little career path sounds perfect for you. If you love nail art then shellac is your dream come true! And a fabulous money maker :) x

Thank you for the welcome.:) Honestly, your post about the myths and fables of common nail beliefs are one of the things that made me join Salon Geek, instead of just reading through it.
I actually have already done a manicure and pedicure course as well as course on applying Shellac, Minx and Trendy. The first course I had done was CND Liquid and Powder, but halfway through that course, the CND Complete Course came out. I am actually saving up to do the CND Complete Course. However, in the meantime, I wish to keep doing courses and be able to practice more skills. The reason I am sticking to natural nails and nail art only are that I wish to learn the artificial and other nail systems from CND. I worked out that it would be cheaper in the end to do the CND Complete Course rather than do the CND courses individually.
The small mobile business I have already states that I do natural nail systems only and nail art. This is a way to get some more money for the CND Complete Course alongside my other job. I am working multiple jobs until I am able to pay for the course.

I have already studied the basics and am constantly practicing the simple manicure (buffing, filing and trimming) and applying polish on my nail trainer while trying to improve my speed. Mom and my sister, as well as my friends, allow me to practice on them every once in a while, so that I can do the entire procedure with the ScrubFresh, pushing the eponychium back and Solar Oil as well as practicing my retail/customer skills.
I do nail art because I adore it, but I made sure to learn the basics first because I wish to be a high quality Nail Technician and it is better to perfect the basics and each stage in order before moving on to the next, even if it means that I won't be able to learn nail art for a while.
I am planning to the CND Complete Course and am saving up for it. I am sticking exclusively to natural nails systems and nail art because I wish to learn the other nail systems only from CND. However, I want to do more courses to improve my nail art while I am working on saving the money for the CND Complete Course.

Actually, you did help me by mentioning that Fibreglass is extinct. That means I know to do the Airbrush course instead. It's just that Essential Nails are doing a special discount on Nail Art Conversion Courses and I have been planning to do another nail art course. Also, I love the included contents that Essential Nails gives with their courses.
Thank you. :)
