Hi,

I'm just wondering whether anyone else has heard what I've heard?

Which is...... In about a year or two years time non college training will be not aloud to practiced, just as if you weren't qualified to do so now.

I was told that all nail techs etc will have to be trained at college and all the people that have trained outside of one will not be legit!

I was informed about this by my college tutor.

Any thoughts?

I don't think that this would cause a problem to those already working in a salon because they cant exactly sack you. Then again, I don't know really. We will have to cross those bridges when we come to them x

i doubt it very much. as long as there are associations such as the guild and BABTAC (who approve independant courses) then i cant see how anyone can enforce such a rule.

IMO company training and some short courses are better than college.

end of the day its down to the individual and how much they put in as to what they get out.

I agree, I personally have NVQ level 2 but I certainly wont be doing another year at college, I am doing private courses from now on

that would be terrible news if it is true. There are geeks on here that are company trained and would leave a college trained nail tech standing.
I mean no offence to college trained nail techs but stating that most of the top company's training is at a very high standard and there are a lot of talented nail technicians that did not attend college.

And did they say who would be enforcing this situation??

All nonsense. Don't give it a moments thought

I did actually hear this too a while back but I can't for the life of me who it was that told me:irked:

Alot of college tutors do not really agree with the 3...4...5 day courses full stop...i wouldnt worry about it...i think its highly unlikely..but if it does...cross the bridge when you get to it!

Listen to Marian (mum).

It is all a load of rubbish and your tutor is wrong ... plain and simple.

Forget you ever heard it.

Now you have heard it from two of the horses' mouths. (and don't anyone say, "old nags morelike"!!)

i agree ...my tutor at college actually recommends them...so don't give it thought it'll never happen VTCT\BABTAC\IHBC\NVQ ect..are all approved & recognised qualifications

My tutor also recommended I follow my college training with some private training with other brands as the college training can be very basic. She also said that alot of the private training can be alot better especially with the likes of creative and ezflow. So I would not worry.

Gigi and Mum are right...it's a load of old bull. I would much rather do the private training - intense courses for a week or so rather than doing a year/2year long college course. :)

I was one of the lucky ones to, we used creative spa manicure and pedicure for that course and creative for acrylic. We used NSI for our Gels course. So really lucky.:)

I agree, my tutor used to tell me private courses were rubbish so I would do Level 3. It probably looks bad on a tutor if their students drop out or don't progress
