Hi, I am new on this site but LOVE all the hints and tips I have been picking up from reading the threads-So Thanks!
Just wanted to ask what the standard percentage is for salon owner to take from your treatments.
I have been asked to go in to a salon to do Minx as salon owner has not got time to train and customers are asking for it. She would like me in afew days a week (prob Wed,Thur or Thur, Fri), she mentioned taking a percentage but never said how much and asked me to think tonight and let her know if I could go in. I loved the salon, loved the owner and I am only just starting to work for myself (not even advertised yet), seems like a great opportunity so don't want to be too low. She is not charging me any money as she is asking me to go in. HELP, need to call her tomorrow. I live in Scotland. Hope i have given you enough info. xx

Hi, I'm in Millport.
I pay my therapists 50% of what they bring in for treatments, and if they've sold a lot of retail items, I slip in another £5 or so.
I do the towels, etc but I expect them to clean up after themselves.
I don't need them all the time as it's a seasonal business, but this suits them as they have families.
I think this is about average.
:hug:Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply- Not sure if 50% is too much by the time I have paid for all my products and travel, I had thought 10% but maybe this is too little.
I am self employed, use all my own products and had planned on working where I live but this salon has asked me to go in to do Minx for them, am I being greedy?? I am not sure if possibly your staff are using your products? And this is reflected in your percentage? x

Hi, I think you should negotiate between 20% to 25% at most. Good luck in your new venture.

Hi I think 20% is a fair percentage as you are using all your own products. hth

Good luck.
