Hi everyone just after some advice as my head is beginning to hurt!
I am trying to get on a college course for nail services but Preston College say i need a manicure VCTC certificate before i can do their course. I am booked on a manicure course with NSI in manchester in August but this is not VCTC. I am now wondering what qualifications a salon will accept as i would prefer if i can to be salon based once trained.
College courses seem to be cheaper than the CND courses etc probably cos they are 1 day a week for a year but money is a concern as is time as i work part time out of town so even evening courses are proving a problem at the moment! I really don't want to embark on a course paying money i can't really afford to find out i will never get a salon job!

Please help - oh i live in the North West
Thanks
Jakki xx :irked:

I meant VTCT but i'm sure you got the idea!!!!

You would have no problem getting a salon job with a CND certificate .. trust me on this.

However if you want both college and CND then is Knowlesley college near you? They teach with CND.

Thanks looks like i might have to save up and do the CND one but when i can fit it in with work i'm not sure (can't afford to leave without being trained as a tech first)!
Knowsley would be within reach for me but it says its a full time course but im trying to contact them to see what days/times etc.

Thanks again for your help.

I wish I was on your side fo the water Jakki :( We have a VTCT manicure and VTCT nail extensions course running at our local college - 9-12 on a Saturday for 16 weeks and then 18 weeks.

I just wish that they would let me know what system they use :(

Geeg - are there any colleges on the Wirral side that use CND to teach :(

I know the CND foundation course says 5 days but it is not 5 consecutive days,
they are broken up over almost 3 months so you can do lots of practise in between days,
so you just take the odd day here and there as a holiday from your job, who knows the days may fall lucky for you and you might not even have to take any days away from work,
give them a call to find out the fuller details 0845 210 6060 hth

Hi Jakki, quite a lot of my courses run over the weekends. Infact the next 3 beginners foundation courses all begin Sat, Sun, Mon. Give me a call 07855 929055 or S2 for further info.

Thanks for the advice everyone I am now booked onto a CND course 8th Aug so now i'm really nervous - but excited as well!

Well done! Not long to wait! I'm sure you have made the right choice, I have found CND training fantastic...Good luck:)
