Hi I have been given an opportunity to do Manicures for a day centre for people aged from 60 + .I am a qualified nail tech, but trainee level 2 Beauty Therapist. I am not sure what to charge for other treatments I have had a lot of request for facials but as im still training, I am not sure what to charge?

Please can anyone help?

Thank you

Hi, Can you get insurance as a trainee therapist?

Hi yes I have insurance. It covers me while I am training.

Mmmm now I am confused, I didn't think you could charge people whilst training though??That's why we cant have unqualified therapists working on clients and charging them for the treatment in our salon.Maybe it's changed but I was sure that's how it worked.Trainee insurance is cheaper than qualified, why would that be if we were allowed to work on clients and charge?Therapists would all take the cheaper insurance and say they weren't qualified wouldn't they??
As far as I know trainee insurance is so you can practice your skills whilst being covered in the event of an accident but I may be wrong:eek:

Hi my insurance is to cover the Beauty Therapy side as I am a qualified CND nail tech.

But I checked and insurance does not allow me to charge, I was just wanting to cover my costs of travel and materials. But ill wait until I am qualified.

hi
i was led to believe that you can ask for a donation to cover your costs because you cant charge a fee!! may be worth looking into - many over 60's will gladly donate for the facial.

Hi, as long as you are fully qualified and insured in the treatment you will be carrying out you can go ahead and charge for the treatments.

Just remember to complete a consultation/Record card ect. There may well be some contra-indications due to their age.

My granny loved me doing her nails, you will find it very rewarding, good luck

As long as you get suitable insurance and you charge reasonable prices for treatments you can't go wrong. When i was a trainee, i charged about £15 for a full facial, considering time and products i think it was pretty reasonable.

I know, I'm dragging this up.
Would this include for "Trainee Make Up" artists?

Hello...

Mistake me if im wrong but in colleges they charge clients to come in.
Or at least in my college they did. They was very low prices like £5 for a facial and im taking it this was to cover the cost of products. So surely if a college can charge you can as well? You will be using your products and your petrol and time etc. The grandmothers will most likely tip you anyway. And how can insurance not cover you if you charge? Surely youve paid them to cover you no matter what? If your charging lower prices and making sure your clients know you are still training im sure this would be fine x
