Hi everyone

I've been a nail technician for 14 years, had my own salons but now work for an airline in their staff salon doing nails. I have recently been off sick with pneumonia so didn't do any nails for 6 weeks only to find that when i started again I'm reacting to the chemicals. Mainly the odours including acetone, steriliser etc. I've been ill for the last couple of years continuously and just put it down to being a workaholic! My symptoms are sore hroat, sinus problems ear and headaches. The doctor thinks that i have the same symptoms as someone who has a solvent abuse problem. Has anyone used the OPI Clarite system? a this is an odourless system i thought it may help.

Thanks:confused:

Have you thought about trying gel?

I do use gel also. Problem is the dust seems to be affecting me. I try to use a mask which helps slightly. I think it's going to be a process of elimination!!:

do you have a good extraction system ?? this might help matters a bit xxx

You could try using a soak off gel like Bio Sculpture or Le Chat Nobility, with these gels there is minimal filing which should help with the dust.

Hiya, I am sensitive to dust and smells, and I invested in a purex nail table and havent looked back since. It sucks the dust whilst you work into the lamp that shines down, and the grill bit under your and your clients hands makes any dust that is falling whilst filling is going on, heavy and stick down, so it doesnt float around.

They did a free trial, where I had the table in my home salon for 3-4 weeks free if charge for you to try, so you really dont have anything to lose by trying it out.

It cost around £850, but ive seen nice wooden tables with glass on top costing the same or more and dont have the same quality extraction in it!

they are called this now: Purex Sleek and Sexy Nail Tables

hope this helps you!
