SpaFinder, the international spa-marketing group, has presented a report predicting the key treatment trends for 2012. SpaFinder visited hundreds of spas and wellness businesses and interviewed leading market analysts in order to create the report.

It turns out that we are jumping literally feet-first into 2012. The leading trend for 2012 is healthy-feet treatments. London is seeing a boom in 'medi-spas' that are overseen by podiatrists; California is falling head over their well looked after heels in love with 100% foot-focussed spas and in New York 'boot camps' are opening to improve the posture of the feet.

So what else is going to be big in 2012? See below for the full list.

1. Healthy-Foot Treatments

2. Cold & Ice treatments
The benefit of cold treatments on both general health, circulation and healing are well documented and are set to play a central role in the professional beauty industry in the coming year.

3. Wellness Coaching
Spas are a perfect environment for clients to introduce healthy lifestyle choices so it's no surprise that more and more spas are offering wellness coaching.

4. Online Wellness Gaming
Yep. That's right. Big powerhouses such as Clarins are already making waves in the cyber world with the introduction of beauty-focussed wellness game SpaLife on Facebook. With our love of everything virtual, it's set to be a big hit in 2012.

5. Spa Wine & Dine Packages
Watch out for an abundance of spa/dining deals from leading establishments across the country. While spas have offered deals on food and treatments before, they've never been as closely packaged together as they will be from here on out!

6. Vibration, Sound, Music, Light & Colour Therapies
Wowzers. It's sounds like a veritable feast of the senses to us and, while spas have often used music and light as part of treatments, the trend towards multi-sensory, experiential pods that weave lights, music, sound and vibration together is set to grow and grow in the next twelve months.

7. Quick Fix Glam Ups
We are all aware that this has been a rough year and the beauty industry is responding. Get set to offer quick make-up applications, ten-minute manicures and speedy eye-brow waxes.

8. SpaEvidence.com
Supposedly the most comprehensive guide to the science behind spa therapies and treatments and is part of the growing trend of holding alternative therapies up to scientific scrutiny.

9. Under-18s only
Whether we like it or not, the childhood beauty industry is here and growing. Under-18 only spas are opening up and set to become popular in 2012 as they tackle things such as childhood obesity and lifelong wellness coaching.

10. Spas with WOW
Spas will be doing whatever the can do to differentiate themselves from the rest of the crowd. Whether it's amusment park spas or fancy themed spas, there will be something for everyone and every budget.

Well, that's all very well and good but what do YOU think is going to be big in 2012? Have SpaFinder got it right? Let us know...

Until then...geek on.
