I have just started out doing Gel Nails for my salon. Most of the nails look lovely when they walk out of the door but i am so upset because two clients have come back and said that after 2-3 days their gel is starting to lift off and/or their tips (i use white preformed tips) are coming off. I blend the tips well (maybe i dont need to) and apply primer which i cure first then a base coat of salon systems pink gel then a second coat of the same and finish with a top coat (all the same gel from SS) I have a 6w uv gel lamp which i cure each coat for 3 mins. Am i doing something drastically wrong?

I feel so bad that i redo the nails for free!

Any help from you pros out there would be so welcome!

Mich:cry:

sounds to me like your application isn't strong enough....you need to build the gel thicker.

Do you buff the shine off the white tips? If not the gel won't adhere and will peel away.

Most white tips do not require blending. I have not used the brand you mentioned though.

Are you sure you properly fit the nail into the well of the tip? I made that mistake once and had a similar problem.

hths!

gel and white tips are tricky but can be done....you have to make sure that there is no shine on the tip at all....and build that gel up to give strength over the join and in the stress area.

i totally agree with whats been said.your right in that the layers you do but the first layer needs to be thin then the second layer needs to be much thicker as this is when your building the structure of the nail i.e apex, stress area.you need to make sure you get this right as its this that gives the nail its strength and not the tip.
ive never blended white tips but i havent ever used the ones that you are using.
is salon systems from sallys?
did you train using this brand or a different brand?
it might be worth you phoning the supplier as they may be able to help you more.
good luck, theres nothing worse than something like this to knock your confidence.i hope you figure out where you are going wrong.xxx
