Hi guys

can you tell me what you all use to clean/maintain your hot stones?
Want to get mine in tip top condition ready for the winter stampede :)

thank you Heather xx

I was taught to clean them with hot soapy water and wipe them with surgical spirt. They then need to have a milton tablet added to the water in the heater.

hi heather.

I generally wash them in got soapy water then wipe them with an anti-bacterial wipe. If they get a build up i pop them in the dishwasher. Don't forget to lay them out in daylight so they can re-energize after washing.

I clean mine with anti bacterial wash and hot water.

I was told like Heather that they need the sun to re-energize them, i clean mine in hot soapy water and then lay them out on a tray on rock salt and let the freshair do its stuff. Rock salt is another natural element and its suppose to energize them. I was told if you dont do this the stones wont keep there heat.

Hot water and anti-bacterial soap is what I use.

I like the idea of rock salt, might well try that one.

If they've had a lot of use, or been in the dark for a while, I take them home, lay them out on trays and place them on the garden bench and leave them for at least 24 hours.

I use a singing bowl to recharge my stones, quick and effective.

I tried using sterlising fluid once and hated it, the stones smelt and had white specks on them.

the milton tablet in the water would be good if you were using them a few times through the day.

what I sometimes do is place them in the bottom of the shower and leave the shower on for 10 minutes to give them a ummm, shower!

Hi

Thanks for all your replies, very helpful.

Hippy Chick, excuse my ignorance but whats a singing bow?

H xx

a singing bowl is a metal bowl with a wooden beater, you hit the side of the bowl with the beater then pressing the beater along the outer edge of the bowl and moving it slowly around it emits a gentle whining sound (similar to if you you wet your finger and rotated it around a crystal glass).
It originates from Tibetan monks that use it to rebalance their energies and help them meditate.

the sound permeates through your whole being, hence it helps to rebalance your energies.

similar to tingshaws (little metal cymbals on a metal thong).
