I am coming to the end of my foundation course for nail enhancements and have started thinking about getting back to work. I am also trained in manicure/pedicure, spa manicure, paraffin wax etc.

I have been practising all my treatments on models in preparation for real paying clients and everyone has been really happy with the treatment they have received. But was thinking at what point do I register and advertise as a proper business and start charging?

My timings are good for mani/pedicure but am taking up to 2 1/2 hours for enhancements, do you just bite the bullet, register, put a price list together and go for it or wait till you are at a higher standard, faster, more confident etc??? I am planning on working mobile initially.

:)

Hi

Well done on achieving what you have. If you want to start a business i dont see why you cant. the enhancements would need to be quicker as clients dont want to sit for that long!! so even do them at a discounted price until you get your speed up (do it as an introductory offer)

just register your business and get leaflets/price lists sorted and thats you started!!

good luck with it all

You have the skills, so long as you get some insurance sorted, theres no reason why you cant.

If you dont feel quite like taking on the enhancements to offer yet, start with the manis and pedis and let people know that the enhancement service is 'coming soon'.

Taking on a few clients you will soon get into the swing of it and it will increase your confidence when it comes to offering enhancements.

If you have the skills you may as well be profiting from them!

Thankyou, I have already got insurance with ABT it came with my training course so just need to add my enhancement certificates once I finish and of course pass!!!

I think my problem is lack of confidence, although everyone has loved the nails I have done. I guess that just takes time.

The enhancements that are taking 2 1/2 hours are pink and whites. I can do a set of natural acrylics or gels in around 2 hours now. We are not allowed to use white tips during training so plan on practising with these after and see if I can over that as a separate quicker service to them done with the products? I also have to use full well tips which adds to the time. Maybe im not that slow, I will have to test my speed with the easier methods .

Right that's it, after all that waffle I will bite the bullet and go for it, nothing to loose, everything to gain...
