Hiya geeks!

This has been botherin me for a while! Not an big problem but when the nail grows out, on the under side of the free edge, you can see where some of the glue has been applied. This can obvioulsy be quite unhygienic as things can get trapped under it. Its not an overly major thing, and i dare say some people might not even notice but as i want to be as near perfect as possible i wondered what can be done to prevent it?!!

Hey Geek!

I know the prob...

Try these things:

1. Use a little less glue.
2. When you apply tip, apply it at a slight angle (bad expression but you might get the idea) so the extra glue oozes out the 'top'.
3. Wipe underneath with a cotton bud to pick up any straggling ooze...

Hope that helps.

Hi hun

Firstly, you need to be using a high quality nail adhesive not glue!

Cheap nail 'glues' are made from animal proteins and tend to be very strong smelling  like superglue

Secondly, how are you applying the adhesive? on the tip? on the nail? both? do you spread the adhesive along the tip/nail or put a blob on and it squeezes out as you place the tip on the nail?

how about having a 1-2-1 with your trainer, I sure that would help as these things are usually easily rectified very quickly

I meant adhesive - learnt my lesson from cheap glue a long time ago!! lol

I gently squeeze tube, and using an extender nozzle i place a small drop on tip at well area, then using the nozzle i spread the drop around the bottom of tip before applyin th tip to the nail. i always hold at an angle so any excess drips off.

i trained in december so dont see my trainer anymore!!! :irked:

i will try wiping any noticable excess off and using less glue!

i was taught to blot the well/contact end of the tip by gently tapping it end on, on your work towel before applying to nail, as this will get any excess adhesive off before you try and adhere - i used to get air bubbles from using too much adhesive, and this really helped me to eliminate this too

Hmmm lol. ok lets look at something else. What sort of tips are you using? you may be using too much adhesive for your size of tip well.

If you slide the tip at an angle down the natural nail free edge until it 'clicks' on the ridge and then roll the tip onto the nail, any excess adhesive should go on the nail plate which you could then wipe off, it shouldn't ouze out on the back of the tip.

You can also try lightly touching your table roll with the end of the tips to absorb any excess ahesive. Make sure you do this on a space away form you and the client or you will stick to the paper !! (Been there done that lol)

As most of these things it does take practice :green:

Heya,

the way i angle when applying the tip wud be by kinda rolling toward the nail bed (im brutal at explaining) so the excess if any comes out on nail bed area, also during refills i lightly drill the underside to neaten nails underneath but it wud remove excess product too.

hope thats kinda useful
Pam
