Hey,

I'm just about to start a night class at my local college, as I want to get qualified as a Nail Technician. I've only dabbled before, but I'd like to get a head start before the course commences. And so I'm looking for a few bits so I can have a play around. I did a search on Google and it through up a few results, but nothing that stood out to me. Which companies do you all usually use?

Any help would be great. Katie x

What sort of art things are you looking for, different companies are better for different things, iykwim?? I would personally get the basics learnt on your course before trying your hand at nail art as you will just confuse yourself. hth. Cx

Hey Claire, thanks for your reply! :)

Really, I'm just looking for a general range of supplies to get me started. Tips, glue, files, tools, - that kind of thing. Some arty/ decoration type things would be good too, but I'm not too sure what sort of thing to go for there.

Any suggestions will be very much appreciated. x

Who are you training with?? as they will have their own recomendations for tips, glue, etc....

But check out some of the following sites to give you some ideas:

Young Nails - Throughout England and the UK - fantastic all round love their glitters.
Affiniti Nail & Beauty - Nfu.Oh, Mundo, Pro Impressions, Nfu Oh, Nail Products - again couldn't ask for more of a selection
http://www.proimpressions.com/catalog/ - fab tips
Ellisons - hair and beauty supplies. The UK's No.1 supplier to the beauty and hair industry. - general supplier has most of what you need
At Your Finger Tips - Great nail bits and pieces
Welcome - Sweet Squared - Fab company to deal with lovely products, def need to supply your certs to them first tho.

There are loads of companies the ones above are ones I use, tho some may not let you have an account until you have a certificate to prove you are qualified, But speak with your tutor as I am sure they will have loads of recommendations also.

Hth, Cx

Yep they are another good one, now don't quote me but I am sure the lady that runs that one is on here, but I don't remember her user name, lol. I am sure she will put in an appearance if I'm right. Cx

Yes, I am here :)

I get nail art stuff EVERYWHERE....

Paint/feathers/glitters and other small bits-n-bobs from the dollar store, paint brushes from the artist paint/hobby store, from ebay (crushed shells, mylar flakes aka cracked ice, stones, striping tape etc I know ebay is a dreaded word, but for art stuff it ROCKS.) I just got 50 fimo rods for 10$ including shipping. CAN'T beat that! And they're LOVELY.

I'm not fussy on local when it comes to the artsy stuff: as long as the price is right and the product works.

HOWEVER... my 'pro' stuff such as acrylic powders and gels and what not are STRICTLY from pro distributors. Without exception.

I'm sure you're FAB :green:

If you havent started your course yet hun..... it maybe an idea to wait and see what your educator recommends,
do you know what products you will be training with?
are you all having to supply your own kit for college?
most reputable companies would recommend a conversion class for professional products and most systems have tools and files etc... that go hand in hand with them

if its just nail ari and polished that you want to have a play with then a fab supplier of nail are bits and bobs is our very own geek, Beck http://www.salongeek.com/members/beck.html ( i dont know if profile links work)
heres her website :: Creative Ten::

i get all my 'orly' polishes from graftons http://www.graftons.co.uk/orly.html
