Am I realy silly to ask this question but here goes.. I buy my things from proper suppliers (sweet squared aston and fincher etc) but there are companies who sell creative nsi etc how are they alowed to do this is it fake stuff or stolen or what?? Or are they allowed to sell it and Ive just missed something??:confused:

They are probably gaining their stock from unreputable sources... they will be caught out eventually!!!
Buying in that way they're avoiding customs and tax charges and not buying from the appointed stockists.

It's always better to buy from the approved, and legitimate, stockists for your country :D

Thankyou that has cleared that up!! How awful!x

You can contact NSI UK to establish whether you are buying from a legitimate distributor: www.nsinails.co.uk

Just like handbags, there are COUNTERFEIT nail products out there. Especially for well-known brands such as NSI and CND.

they buy in bulk, then re-distribute,

i've never seen, nor heard of a fake nail product yet.

You would only know if you were a through and through nailtech, totally addicted to a product and it's individual working abilities.

And if you were one of these techs, you wouldn't buy from crap suppliers.

PLease ...... somebody tell me about their fake product experiences.

They buy in bulk from the manufacturer.
Ive been buying in bulk from the uk factory for years !
To make fake nails would cost a fortune to set up a factory etc,
Alot are ex stock (lable on wonky or mark on a packet)
Hope this helps

Interesting....Jlburkhardt (me) replied to this thread and I didn't write it! Maybe someone else logged in as me? Weird, I deleted that post.

Anyways, to answer your question since it was brought up by our mystery poster...NSI has run into counterfeit products in Asia and Eastern Europe. Basically, it's just random product that is labeled as NSI. You may not come across this in the UK (and it probably isn't the case here). We wrote a blog on it, if you are interested: nsi Blog Blog Archive Counterfeiting is Big Business: By Rise’ Carter

No worries, I've 'undeleted' your post

Yes, there are counterfeit products out there. Incidentally, it's made easier when manufacturers use stock containers - containers which can be bought from stock in low quantities - as most containers from manufacturers are - you can see for yourselves how the same containers are used by different companies. We took another approach (originally because we just wanted to create our own unique image, but now we see other benefits) and have containers - which could be copied if you have a significant amount of money to make a die, or you manage to find our manufacturer and then buy very high quantities - beyond what most counterfeiters are willing to invest.

However, it's nearly impossible to stop grey imports (i.e. CND/EZ Flow or other products bought in the USA and imported to the UK, or the trick used in some low cost salons where they refill containers from known manufacturers with unbranded product). Personally, I doubt there is much of a price advantage when you also pay shipping and import duty - perhaps if you buy a lot. But then one has to ask, why doesn't that customer spend the same energy trying to move upmarket and earning more per hour than saving a few cents on product. Some people, frankly are stupid, they focus on irrelevant detail and miss the big picture.

And while yes, there is a factory in the UK that produces good quality L&P and gel (and sells under their own brand which is well respected), however their minimum order requirements are way too high for most salons. If you have a chain of salons and are willing to use unbranded product - it could be a solution - but most salons claiming to buy direct are actually buying from wholesalers who are supplying product to dentists i.e. MMA products!
