Here goes ...

I have decided to leave my full time job and concentrate on beauty full time! At the miniute I can only do spray tanning. I am practicing bio sculpture for my assesment at the beginning of September.

At the beginning of Septmeber I will be starting college full time. I day per week doing an acrylic course with creative and calgel (Mondays) and 2 days per week doing beauty level 2 (Thurs and Fri). Both courses end December. So not too long.

My idea was to do 3 days per week at college then 2 days per week (tues and wed) working as a therpaist. Well it can only be sray tanning and bio. This will get me some money. Was maybe thinking of doing 1 evening per week too - say maybe a thurs evening straight from college work until 10pm. (I will be mobile).

What do you all think of this baring in mind I need to practice the new stuff I am learning. And what about the hours - would it be best to dedicate hours say tues and wed 8 - 6 thurs 5 - 10. Or shall i just fir ppl in when they want - leave it to them wen they ring and if i have the time just fit them in then - even if its like a monday. So i will be working as and when (if that makes sense)!!

Also I leave my city office job this friday! I have until 4 september (so roughly 1 month) before i start college...what should i be doing in this time in order to get my business off the ground? I have a few spray tan clients - not many! But i have 1 month - surely i can get loads done.

Please give me ideas of what you think i should do to get me started.

Thanks for any help xxx

Well to cut a long story short,I went mobile last year intending on doing Bio and manis n peds, all I kept getting calls for was acrylic and I was turning people away , as I only done Bio, so I then done an acrylic conversion course, got myself an ad in YP and yell .com , and biz seemed to pick up , but still nearly a year down the line Im struggling to get serious nail clients!

As for hours , I intended on working Mondays and Tuesdays during schol hours doing nails...wrong!Saturdays and evenings ,and if your building a client base you will tend to end up doing hours you really didnt plan on doing , and espically with being mobile its ideal for peeps that work 9-5 Mon -Fri.Being mobile too is hard going lugging all your gear round, and unloading and loading your car up,unfortunatly Im not in the situation where I can work from home at the moment, but hope to sort something out for next year.

I think your very brave giving your job up and starting up, unfortunatly we couldnt survive on my hubbys wages alone, so Im still doing other work , I think you have to be prepared for things and do as much research on here about working for yourself as poss , believe me its not as easy as you think it may be, and theres been alot of times when I just think of throwing it all in, and I know there are other geeks on here that have felt the same way too,but you have to be strong, and keep going!

Good luck to you anyway with your biz, hope it works out for you..

Without putting you off hun..i have to say i'm on the same line of thinking as debbie, you are brave that you have given up the full time job, i am same situation thought i could do it full time...wrong! i only do fridays and saturdays now as business was absolutely dead in the weekdays people working ect....we couldn't live on hubbys wages alone ,it was just about keeping our heads above water and not sinking..so i ended up having to get another job as without it i wouldn't have the money to upgrade products and purchase of products and other training courses that i am about to do. You really have to be prepared for taking that step and look at the pros and cons and do as much research about working for yourself as possible as believe me it is definately not as easy as you think it may be, and theres been a few times when I just thought of throwing in the towel and giving up, your not alone though as there are other geeks on here that have felt the same way too,but you have to be strong, and keep going!

Good luck to you and i wish you all the very best with your business, i hope it works out for you..:)
