The first edition is 1996 ish
and the newest edition is 2005 ish i think,
I was looking at them the other day too...I NEED to have it lol.
Obviously the 1st edition is cheaper....
But I too would like to know if they both contain more or less the same information,

The newer one with the full colour cover is the one to get. It is the latest edition of the old one so does contain much of the same info but more up to date and with more information.

Me too, I have the later edition, and I'm finding that reading through and having the questions and the end of each chapter is really helping.
