Hi, I am new to this so please be patient!! I am new to the business (April 2008), I am working mainly with acrylics and was wondering whether to take a training course on electric filing. However, I am undecided on where to take the course (nsi???) and which machine is recommended.

Thanks!

I cannot give you adice on the best drills but I do know that if you buy a nail electrical file from Young nails they give you 2 hours free tuition. Their nail filing courses are 3 hours long heres a link with the info Young Nails - Throughout England and the UK - Electric Nail File Training

if I was to do a course such as this, I would do this one as it does seem good value for money.

hope that helps

Thank you, have just had a look at their website and they do the two hours free tuition on site which would be really useful. Thankyou. Vanessa

I did my training with NSI - they were good - but since doing the course, didnt really feell the NEED to use an E-File - but hey ho - another cert under the old belt

Thanks! this is why I am so unsure, you see I just thought it might take a bit of the strain out my fingers and wrists (which seem to ache more and more just recently - not sure if its the weather!) when doing backfills??

Hi ya hun

I def recommend training from young nails Clare kelly and Steven Dodd are lovely really accommadating and a wealth of information. Make you feel motivated and want to do new things.

Rita411 E-FILE (not drill) training can be done with jenny draper check out her website at www.jennidraper.co.uk or check out www.youngnails.co.uk to see other educators in your area.

Hi Rita

Just to confirm Anni and Debbie that Jenni Draper is your local educator why not give her a wee call she will keep you right:hug:

If you do good nails, you do not need a drill.

If you are a bit achy now it is only because you are new at the job. The better nails you do with your brush the less you will ever need a drill or to file much at all with any type of file. This is the goal towards which we all aspire and work. Back fills are easy without a drill too.

Even using drills can cause wrist problems not to mention all the dust they produce (much more than hand filing. So if you do not have adequate extraction ventilation be careful with drills as they produce even finer dust, and more of it, than hand filing.

I have a drill but I never use it for doing nails.

Hi nail-icious
Id be more than happy to discuss the benefits of the electric nail file and the training we offer at Young Nails here in the UK should you wish to discuss further.
I can also help you out with which carbide bits to use - creating larger dust particles too heavy to become airborne, so less dust in your working environment.
Feel free to call me direct on 01253 699 999

However, for more information on drills - which, quite rightly said, should not be used when doing nails. Call B&Q
