Hi which is the best brush to use for cnd L&P i am using a honey tip no 5 and find it clogs easiley ( what am i doing wrong there)? and now i need a new one as i have pulled the hairs out trying to clean it. ( what is the best way to clean it after each client so i don't get lumps of hard arcrylic stuck in it)? Is there a brush that gives a good edge around the base of the nail as mine are sometimes ragged is it me or the brush? HELP PLEASE

If you're getting clumps of acrylic in your brushes, chances are you're working too wet. Once you start hitting the correct ratio (one part powder to one and a half parts liquid--bead is textured, not smooth, and no extra powder clinging to it.), the whole bead comes off the brush while you work, whereas a wet bead tends to be too sticky and bits of it will stick to the brush if you're not cleaning it scrupulously after each client.

So really it doesn't matter which CND brush you use--just make sure you've got the mix ratio correct. :)

I have never used that brush so cannot offer advice on which brush is best but..........you need to work out why your getting lumps in your brush...i dont think its the brush that is the problem, its your ratio of liquid to powder your either working too wet and the product isnt leaving the brush when you place your bead down, or your working to dry leaving deposits of powder in your brush so when you come to dip in liquid its causing lumps in your brush....
have a look at the tutorial section there are loads of fantastic advice about ratio etc.

To clean your brush you use...clean monomer......try soaking your brush overnight in clean monomer and see if that will sort your brush out...if you have to get a new brush remember everytime you have finished using it clean it in fresh monomer and thats all you need to keep your brush clean

I was taught on my CND Foundation course the best way to clean your brush is in some clean monomer that you use.

You certainly need to do some work on your mix ratio hun to prevent this, once you have finnished with your brush their should be no product left on it and a swill in clean monomer and a wipe on a lint free pad should be sufficient.

Many CND tech's opt for the pro styler along with the master series brushes and the ultra sculptor,i personally love this brush and find it does a lot of the work for iykwim especially in zone 3.

Tbh until you perfect your mix ratio i would be looking at a designer nails brush from Sweet Squared, they have a wooden handle, but come in the same sizes as the CND brushes but are slightly cheaper,so not so bad if you likk your brush off

Good luck and practise your bead work hth's

Have you done any training with CND? If so you are probably best to go back to your trainer and ask if she/he does 121 training to help you with your ratio problem. From what I remember the honeytip 5 is a rather smallish brush, most people use one of the sculptors or a master series brush.

I have to ask if you have actually done any L&P courses with CND as the brush provided with the Course kit, and used during training, is a ProStyler.

The brush you are using is very small....and the only time I ever used a honey tip brush was to do detailed work with coloured acylics.

I have to ask this because your profile does not say what training you have had, or what level of experience you have. That would help us in answering you without having to ask too many questions.:)

I think you should switch to a Prostyler, and get some 1-2-1 with an Educator, as you might need help getting the correct the mix ratio using a larger brush ( it is a size 8).
Regarding the clogging up of your brush with setting product, this as everyone else has said is a mix ratio problem, and also not wiping your brush effectively. You will require to clean your brush in your monomer.

Again, all of this information is in your CND Foundation course manual, and would have been well covered during training.

Hi no i haven't done the cnd course it was too far away for me sadly i have done about 30 sets of nails they are ok but i want to be better my course taught me differently to the turorials and used a very small brush the same as the one i'm ruining! now, i am going to have a go at the methods in the tutorials and see if that helps, what am i doing wrong with the way i mix, i dip then wipe the brush down the side of the dish twice then swirl the brush 3 times till i get a bead sometimes there is still powder showing i now no that is wrong and that is why my brush is clogging. any tips you sound fab wish i could have a 121 with a cnd educator.

It is a shame that you haven't been able to have CND training, as you seem to be having problems with both the L&P and the Brisa Gel. These problems could both be ironed out I am sure with some proper CND training.

On the other hand though, I am curious as to where you are getting your stock from, if it isn't from authorised CND distributors then perhaps your products aren't genuine and then this could be the reason behind your problems.....

my stock is from an authorised distributor so it's not that it's defo my crappy training! tho i am getting better all the time with l&p and gel tho i do more l&p than gel don't really like gel as it doesn't seem to suit everyone it hates me!
i would have loved to do the CND course but my dearest one is Leeds and with a family it is too far to go i wish there was one in my area and i bet loads of girls do instead i'm getting loads of help from you guys and the tutorials. Thanks so much

you wont get the best results from your products hun, unless you do the respective training, its worth it believe me, ok so your having to lay out cash now, but if you dont you will be getting by on trial and error which is not the right way to go :)

I hear what you are saying, honestly I do, however, I travelled nearly 2 hours each way to do my training while 5-6 month pregnant with my 5th child, so if I can I am sure you must be able to find a way! It really will be worth it in the long run.....

Just wondering,if you haven't trained with CND where do you purchase your products ?
