Hi all

Can you please advise which would be the best course to take for a first timer either the acylic or the gel course.

Thanks Leah

When I did my course, we were told that acrylic is the hardest to master.....so once you can do that, you should be able to anything?!!! HTH. xxx

I totally agree, learn the acrylic first,
make sure you get good training too, this will make the world of difference to your skills,
i highly recommend CND,
hth

Of all the systems acrylic was the hardest to master.

Gel and fibreglass were both so much easier.

i know opinions really differ on this.
i personally think that gel is best to start with.
you learn all the essentials of preparation , tip fitting and application , structure and shape and finishing techniques, that are the same with l/p acrylic.
the application of gel is obviously different than l/p but crucially you do not have to worry about correct ratio as your product is already mixed and ready to apply and there is no timing issue to struggle with because gel only sets when you want it to rather than l/p being hard before you are ready.

so this means you can focus on all the other issues and then when you move on to liquid and powder acrylic you will find it easier to deal with ratios and timing issues because the rest will already be second nature to you.

I agree that L&P is harder to master and once you do gel will just fall into place for you.

But i would also consider what is most popular in your area no point learning gel if everyone has L&P.
I have done training with many places i would recommend Ezflow i love their products

I qualified in gel first (lookin to go on a acrylic course soon thou) and i have been told by quite a few very experianced technicians round my way totally the opposite! They all said i have done it the wrong way round, as they think gel is harder to learn etc and they told me when i do the acrylic course i should pick it up straight away as its a lot easier to work with. I qualified in January with Calgel and am still finding it difficult to work with the Gel, its very tricky and takes alot of patience and practice, although I have full paying customers who are happy with their nails there is still room for improvement in my eyes!

i think you are on target, acrylic l/p takes longer to master than that.

Having also worked with pretty much every system, I would agree that L&P is the hardest to master.
No matter which system you choose to begin with, it is going to take lots of time, commitment, practise and patience before you begin to feel comfortable and confident.

So many people, including me, expect nails to be easy..... it really isn't!

The fact that I thought it would be easy, then discovered it was probably the hardest task I had ever set myself, sparked my huge passion for nails.
I'd imagine most of us nail geeks would tell you the same kind of story?

What I am saying is not one of the systems is easy. They are at different levels of hard!

Good luck, whatever system you choose to start with!.... just make sure you go with quality education and product.

Prepare yourself to become a nail crazed loon! Nails will probably be all that you think about

I start my Acrylic course in March and i cant wait :green: I chose acrylic as my sister trained with gel and i found it to be very sticky and a bit annoying perhaps it was the brand of gel she was using?

But i find around my area acrylics seem to be more popular than Gel.
I know this is going to be such a hard task and i cant wait to challenge myself and put all my time and efforts into it to make sure i do a good job before i work on my clients.

So i think no matter what one you chose to do first is going to be hard (to use newbies) as its something we have never done before and its a beauty treatment that takes allot of hard work to get perfect
