If you do a search there are loads of threads on this subject. I don't recommend buying a kit separately to what comes with your corse and unless you would rather specialize in one system or concentrate on one at a time I'd recommend doing a corse witch combines the two.
The most popular companies for training are
NSI, CND, Entity and OPI (as far as I'm aware :p ) get in touch with a few of them and see what fits best for you.

I think the choice between l&p or gel is down to your clients really. For example, hardly any clients in my area ask for or want gel, it's all l&p. So if I hadn't trained in l&p I wouldn't have built up my client base.

You could always start with one system and then learn the other at some point in the future.

As for which company to go with, then you need to go for top notch. This means fab products, fab training and ongoing support. I would only ever recommend Creative. But I know EzFlow are good too as my friend is an educator with them and has used their products on my nails.

I first trained in gel, but was disappointed to find about 75% of my enquiries were for l&p die-hards who didn't want an alternative, so I ended up training in l&p after 6 months as I was reluctantly turning people away. It might be an area thing though. Good luck x

Its the same in my area! L&P is sooo popular for fingernails but gel is popular for toenails especially now the sun has been shining every so often lol!

Thanx for your help ! i think my area is kinda split well most people i have been talking to. I had my first set of acrylics the other day and those were the best i have ever tried. I would love to do everything combined but it is soo expensive i can afford it at the moment!!
