Afternoon everyone,

I have just been plodding through beauty express, I am looking for a roller syetem. I have been using my egg pot with the tubes and I hate it, its rubbish! They take forever to warm up and then cool down far too quickly and I can only get the front of the legs done before everythings gone too cold!

I have had my legs waxed with the hive heater before, this one:

I really liked the look of it.

I was wondering, as I don't think I require one this big has anyone experience of using this hand held one?

Is it just as good or a no go?

There are similar ones like the salon systems one
Buy Just Wax Roller Wax Heater Kit from Beauty Express

Does anyone know what would be best for me?

I still have my pot for doing underarms, eyebrows and hot waxing but I just really need something for doing legs?

Thanks everyone, xx

hi hun, this has already been discussed a few times, so u should check out the other threads about it too.

I use this
Buy Hive Single Roller Heater from Beauty Express
i think its brill. I use one cartridge, 80g, (well, slightly less) for a full leg wax, and it really cuts down the timing. i think from pot and spatula i would use maybe double that for a full leg. so economical aswell. I might have to buy another one ready for the summer though. Oh and the cartridges heat up fast and stay heated up as obviously, the heat element is inside the hand held bit!

I refill the cartridges myself, as i cannot get the wax i use in cartridges already. Which is a bit of a pain, but worth it!

I only use the roller for legs though. and mainly because i have a bad back so its less twisting from pot to client constantly.

Hi Louise,
I have used the Clean and Easy system for years and I can't fault it...I have the spa sized heater and it's just great, very quick and hygienic. There are different sized rollers for various areas and clients always seem to be impressed with the results, hth xxx

Hi Louise,
I have the clean & easy roller system from beauty express, i got the waxing spa kit, it cost £99.95 and comes with loads. I love using this, it warms up quickly and stays warm.

I use Clean & Easy too and have no problems.

Have you thought about the new 'mini' multi pro roller heater from Hive?

It would mean you had a back up cartridge hetaed if you needed it and may give you a bit of flexibilty as it gives you room for 3 cartridges & you can use it for their paraffin wax cartidges too.

Beauty express do that too.

Wow, thanks everyone for your replies. I did a search but I couldn't find anything on the single hand held ones and I wondered if they were good in comparrision to the otherones,

Thanks for all your help, i'll have a look through the book,

Louise x

i got the clean and easy system at excel and love it, i prefer to do the eyebrows by pot thought.

I use the just wax single cartridge system and I love it although I find that the wax does cool down quite qucikly if you unplug it but I just use an extension lead and that works. It heats up brilliantly but I find that it is only and use for legs and underarms as it is a bit bulky for bikinis although I have only got the large head cos I haven't gotten around to getting any of the med haed ones although I am going to possibly get the Hive one cos I have heard, though it has not been substantiated yet that you can get the cartridges that fit the Just Wax heater and they have smaller heads and different flavour waxes! I like my different flvour waxes! Also I am a bit of a mucky pup so I'm worried about being mobile and splashing wax on ppl's houses! lol!

ps I really hate the Beauty express website cos it doesn't tell you enough about the products! I love the catalogue tho! Lx

If you purchase a hive mini system do you also need to purchase a hand held. Are cartridges comfortable to handle and not too hot?

If going for a Hive unit I would definately suggest the Multi-Mini or the bigger 6 slot version. The advantage of this unit is that you can use it for Paraffin wax too, and it will also hold the larger 100g cartridges from other companies too. At the moment I have the Hive handheld unit (bought it to try out roller waxing), I am now going to get a Multi Mini as well as only having one cartridge warm isn't enough for my bigger clients.

What you do need to do when you get it is try different waxes, find the one that you can work with the best. Personally I have found the Clean & Easy Hemp wax and Salon System Just Wax the easiest two to apply, both of which fit into the Hive system.

The cartridges can get quite warm when using them, but that isn't a problem Protective Sleeves that once you take the cartridge out of the heater you put around it. This protects your hands and helps keep the wax warm too.

Thanks so much the information. I am in Sydney Australia and will see if the protective sleeves are available here.:)

Hi I used the Hive hand held and Its rubbish!! I now use the Clean & Easy it is brill, no problems with It at all.

If you use Perron Rigot wax, they now do a roller system. I have yet to buy and try.

P.S I have no idea how to do smilies in a post..

I didn't want to start a new topic as this one's on the same subject.

Does anyone know if Hand-Held Roller Depilatory Heater (100g Cartridges) at Hive of Beauty LTD can fit 80g cartridges in? Or is it just 100g?

If it can't, which hand held roller is better the 80g or 100g? I'm trying to decide between them both!

Thanks :)

Something to consider...

Most 100g roller cartridges have fixed roller heads, i.e. they cannot be removed / replaced

Most 80g cartridges have replaceable heads

Here's an 80g single roller kit Salons Direct: Hand Held Roller Kit from Salons Direct Online. Products

Something else to consider...

When you're busy, having just one cartridge warmed at a time will not be enough, so it might be worth investing in a larger unit that houses more than one cartridge

Thanks for your reply Zo Zo. That link is really handy... I'll probs go for that one.
I'm just buying one for my own waxing at home so I guess I'll only need the one cartridge at a time. But thanks for the advice
