So I know you shouldnt use anything with oil after you have had a spray tan, but which ones actually contain oil? I always use dove soap but people on here have said not to use dove, or is that just the dove shower oil? or is this just dove in general? also if I tell a client not to use moisturisers which contain oil, what am i looking for in the ingredients list? will it just be listed as oil? or is there a big convaluted word for it? one of my guinea pigs said her face went lighter and I did ask if she had used anything with oil in ie moisturiser or soap, but just wondered if they could look on the label and it would simply say "oil"?

I recommend radox or simple, holland & barrett to a good one to but most folk dont want to pay too much lol defo no dove soap or shower gel! lol its not just the oil you have to worry about strong soaps/shower gels will affect tan too imperial leather is one of them.
The face will almost certainly always go lighter if you are washing off makeup before bed. hth xx

I always use Dove soap and Imperial leather. Is it only these soaps? what ingredient am I looking for on the label?

Look for the work oil in the ingredients list. There may be one or many i.e. linseed oil, grapeseed oil, rape seed oil, palm oil etc etc etc, avoid like the plague.

what a fab post! i too would also be interested in knowing what's good and what's not! :D x

Avoiding shower gels with sls (sodium laureth sulphate) can also help as this is a powerful degreaser and so can also cause your tan to wear prematurely. It is normally the 2nd ingredient in most shower gels, only one I can think of that you can buy in shops etc (off the top of my head) is the kids range by 'halos 'n' horns'. Not sure if they have oils in them though xxx

SLS is the foaming agent found in most shampoos, soaps, shower gels, avoid them. Also anything containing oils will help to strip your tan badly.

lol, yep it is both:

Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) is a very common chemical found in shampoos, hair conditioners, toothpaste, body washes bubble baths etc.
Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) is also a strong and harsh detergent used in industry as a degreaser and a powerful wetting and foaming agent.

I cant find one that is SLS & oil free  but radox seems to be quite good I use it very sparingly thou :D xx
