Hi Guys,

Im just going to start advertising for staff for my new barbers and i thought id ask for the latest opinions on wage structures.

Do you offer a basic or a hourly rate or commission?

What are you incentives or bonus's?

Any information would be greatly appreciated as i want to recruuit the best people but have to be careful as its a new business model and i cant be throwing money away while building the new loyalty.

I'm sorry that I don't have a solution for you, but I would also be interested in this- I have a new barbershop myself! :)

I own a beauty salon.

I employ 2 therapists and a receptionist/therapist.

They are on a basic hourly wage, then they get a therapist bonus. 25p for each 15 minutes of the treatment. Each treatment has a specific timing and they get paid according to that whether they take longer or do it quicker. My aim was to encourage efficient timings without rushing the clients.

They also get 5% retail commission.

Free treatments for themselves and buy products at cost price.

Jemima :)
