hello all!:)

was wondering what wax you all use? i use salon systems pink creme wax and was wondering if there is anything better? x

Just type wax into the search facility and you find 100`s of threads to answer this one for you, hth

Hi Gemmat,

How do you feel about that wax, do u like it. Can you please advise whats the pro and con about it. And also how long you have been using it.

I'm also looking for a reasonable price wax for a starter.

Thanks! :)

hello!

ive been using it for about 6 years on and off, keep coming back to it. I find its not as sticky as honey wax, and you dont get too many "trailly bits" just wondering if there is a better quality wax out there?? x

Wao for 6 years on and off.... I've heard of Hara wax, know someone using it, have anyone ever used it and how's it. Also noticed there are many therapist from this forum like Peeron Rigot. I just feel it's a bit costly for a starter. :)

sorry for being daft, but what does wao mean??

spelling errro should be "wow" ;)

:lol:ahhh! makes sense now!

Yes it is relatively expensive, but my honest best advice? Try the others and then see how you feel about Perron Rigot in comparison. What we all feel may not be the same as you.

IMHO tho - it is leaps and bounds as a product range against the others I have tried.

hth? Jason. x

I tend to use Salon Professional Luxury warm wax, which i find good, as i do men their hair is quite course, and i find this wax fits the bill well, for the intimate waxing i use Hive hot film brazilian wax, ( the cream coloured one ) and have good results from that, but am thinking that i might try Perron Rigot wax for the intimate waxing as i have heard that it gives fantastic results, regds Philip

Also, check the sizes of different brands what may seem cheaper is in fact dearer as it's a much smaller size. xx

You will tend to find that the more premium brands don't actually work out any dearer than the cheaper brands....with a quality product less is used and therefore economy of use means is in reality that it is not necessarily any dearer

I have been waxing for 15 years now so have just a bit of experience. I have kept up with all the new trends and was one of the first girls in the country to do Hollywoods etc.

I use a company called Salonserve. They sell all sorts of salon products and equipment and most will work out at nearly half the price of what you would buy from Sally's, Capital and the like.

Now, before some of you jump on me about quality etc let me share with you this. Clients come to be waxed, that is to have all the hair removed from whichever area they choose. They want to do this in a warm and comfortable environment by a therapist who is professional, friendly and will put them at ease. I do both men and women and you really do not need a designer wax to do the job properly.

I have tried the new waxes when they come out and have seen no real difference apart from grossly exaggerated prices.

Everyone has the right to use whichever wax they prefer, obviously, but it worries me that these more expensive waxes seem to have the marketing behind them to make some therapists, especially new inexperienced ones think that they are skimping if they do not pay top dollar for everything.

Technique is what is required with a decent quality wax. I can throughly recommend Salonserve's own wax, it is fab and you won't believe the price! We are in business after all! Also have a look at couch rolls and their long lasting wax strips are really good!

You can look at their online site but generally order over the phone. They are very, very friendly and delivery is generally next day and free over £50!

Hope this helps some of you!

Love and best wishes to you all

Sheila xxx

I think good technique is very important and then the wax whether it's a decent or high quality wax. In old days people only use homemade wax from a simple recipe.

Thanks for all your advise. :)

I totally agree that technique and skill is most important. however, I totally disagree that wax is wax. If that was the case, why wouldn't we all use the cheapest of all products?

Also, the proof is in the client and they all report that a good quality wax is better for them during their waxing and after. I don't charge any more for using a top quality wax because the way that I look at it, it get's me more clients.

Hi there,

I knew this would happen. I did not say that wax is wax, what I said was Salonserve wax is as good as the very expensive waxes on the market today, if you are using the correct technique.

I have been waxing for 15 years and am fully booked every day. I can keep my prices reasonable and my clients are very happy.

My point was that you do not need to spend more money that is necessary to get a good result for both you and your clients and that newcomers need to try several waxes before making their own minds up.

Another point is one that seems to be lost sometimes. Unless we are in this just for the fun and not to make a living. If I am fully booked then the only way I can make any more money or save my clients price increases is to cut my own expenses and it makes good business sense to shop around, not just for the new and innovative products but for the good day to day products that produce great results.

I have tried these new waxes and will keep trying them to see the difference but if I get even small and stubborn hairs out, do not have any post wax irritation and no bruising whatsoever, why would I want to spend 4 times the amount of money on wax?

Each to their own, it is no skin off my nose as to which wax everyone uses but we do have a choice and advice should be balanced and from angles.

Best wishes

Sheila x

SHEDUNLOP.......unless I attach a quote, my comments are general and not to anyone in particular. Your post just made me think about things generally. Nothing personal.

PS. As you didn't attach a quote of mine, maybe I'm jumping the gun too and you weren't directing that at me. :)

It's easy done.....I do it all the time. I think they're talking to me, when in fact they're talking to someone else or just generally. xxx

I am quite liking ginger wax from forest floor at the mo for legs because i won it in a comp and it is a really nice wax their strips are good too.

I really like old fashioned hard wax for bikinis and ,i like film wax and have used berins and perron rigot but i think because i am so used to using hot i always want to put it on thicker than needs be and on the wrong way. With hot i never miss a hair with film theres often something left so i put that down to me not the wax.

Babyliss have a nice hot coconut and arnica wax but can you believe,it attracts the bees i kept getting them in my room flying around the pot every time i had the door open.

I think technique and knowing your wax is the most important thing i think the J sisters who were supposedly the pioneers of the brazilian use strip wax and so do many other waxers on here very sucessfully use strip wax for brazilian.Strip that are always in the glossies use Lycon hot wax.

Sometimes as an employee you wont get a choice my daughters first job in a spa they only have clean and easy for everything even brazilian so she will just have to get on with it and do her best although she was trained in hot for bikini.
