I’m struggling to get decent photos of my clients nails due to lighting issues, can anyone recommend an inexpensive white light that I could purchase? A desktop one that can be used on a mobile basis? TIA x

What you need is a lamp that produces light in a daylight colour temperature. You can search on "daylight table lamp". Some results will be for a UK company also called Daylight and their lamps do have this colour temperature.

Alternatively, search for a "phone ring light" which is a flash light for photo's that clips to a phone. This is one example:
