hi all, i had a lovely lady in yeaterday she has decided to have gels at 74! she hasnnt ever had anything on her nails before apart from polish, when i looked at her nails during the consultation they look exactly like she had enhancements and they had been ripped of, but i know for def she hasnt ( the girls in the hair salon have known her for donkeys years ) anyway they looked good around the cuticle and her fingers were in good shape so i know she takes good care of herself, so i shaped, cuticle work and buffed (my usual prep ) and REALLY scrubbed with calguard ( sanatizing solution) but now im in a bit of a panic that greenies may appear ???

What you are describing could be IMO (based on what you have said) either a fungal infection or leaukonychia.

If fungal (flakiness present?) then her treatment would be contraindicated. If it's leaukonychia, then this is a common occurance in many people. I occasionally get this white spotting/ marking on the nail plate which is some separation between the layers of nail plate as a result of damage whilst the nail is developing in the matrix, banging, bashing etc....

Greenies are caused by bacterial poopoo as a result of unhygenic prep or incorrect prep and lifting or air pockets where moisture, warmthe etc... allow bacteria to thrive.

hi ya, i gave a really good scrub with calguard, i am PARANOID about greenies ! i would be SO embarrassed if i had a client with one, i wouldn't know what to say !
