Hi all

Just wanted to get some professional advice really.

I am still training (home learn ) yes i know.. lol..

My sister has asked me to do her nails in the name of training and practice (my human guinea pig) lol..

She wanted white tips for the wedding she is going to .

I will be using clear gel over them.
i havent applied white tips before, and i purchased them from ebay (just for practice purposes) they have a small contact area and not totally welless.

Do i need to still streamline the left and right side and blend the contact area. or just streamline and buff off the shine.

I know i am probably going to be told dont use them and dont do this and that but as i said all in the name of practice and learning.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all :O)

Yes, you just need to tailor them to fit and remove the shine from them, no point in blending white tips as you want that perfect smile line.If you want you could cut out the contact area and make them well less, but only if it is quite a thin tip anyway. If the contact area is a bit big and your sister has a short nailbed, then you could used a pair of curved scissors and cut out part of the well into a deeper smile line. this can take a bit of practise but it is worth it.

Hope the above info helps.

however just a word of warning if you are using gel over a white tip, sometimes the UV doesnt penetrate throughly on a white tip .. if it works great but sometimes the tip will delaminate from the gel..hence most gel users use a clear tip or natural then apply white gel.. HTH..

If using a clear gel then you should have no troubles using a white tip as long as the shine is removed with a 180 grit file or lower. It is only when using opaque gels that the UV light has to penetrate from both sides and clear tips or forms are necessary.

Hi

Thank you so much for all your advices. I am going to have a practice session both on myself and nail trainer tonight as doing sisters nail tomoz.

if they go well i shall post a piccie.

Sara

I've tried everything I know to get gel to adhere to a white tip. It hasn't worked. The gel will peel off the white tip. Better to use a clear/natural tip and do either regular white gel or a paint on white. :)

Hi

Ive used white tips for most of mine (simply because my hands just arent steady enough to give me what I would want in terms of a smile line) and Ive found that so long as the tips are 'roughed up' enough the gel seems to be fine. The only problem I sometimes get is that, becasue I type with my nails and not the finger (naughty I know), the gel can separate but maybe thats just me...

well so far so good, even did one on myself albeit a pinkie lol.. just getting to grips with my gel as last layer is still dulling in places, cant work out why still .

Thanks again for the advice.

wow i did a full set tonight on my guinea pig (sister) lol.. took me a while, but got there. although again my last layer of gel went patchy dull upon wipe off, even though i was very gentle. still got to perfect that.. so in the end we cheated lol and i applied a clear brilliance top coat to bring the gloss back in , has worked a treat, although perhaps not the way to go.

White tips were very easy to put on and i did minimal buffing to blend the seam a little, did it without ruining the smile line.

Thanks you guys for the white tip application.
