Hi again

Just a quickie to ask why one of my Lady's white tips went yellow!!!! It looked like she was smoking 100 a day. I used IBD intense seal do you think this caused it?

Thanks xxx

Hi, yellowing of a topcoat is likely to be from something she is using, I have found in the past citrus base cleaners (spray and wipe) or citrus has lead to yellowing.

Since I now use NSI glaze n go or CND super shiney I have not experienced yellowing or discoloration.

Hi,

I would like to know just a bit more.
Did you sculpt or just place on a white tip?
How long have you been doing this clients nails?
Is the client on medication/s or chemo or diabetic etc?
What exact products are you using, are they all the same, or different L& P.
How long after you did the service did you see the yellowing, was it within a 24 hour period or longer?

This will just help me to understand it a bit better that is all.

Thanks.:)

is it just the gel sealer that has gone yellow...... like stained or the product underneath too??

Hi

This is a bit embarrassing because the Lady was my second client. I qualified 6 months ago in acrylics with EN and have been using the nail trainer and myself to practice daily on my techniques.

The tips I used were white tips without a well. The acrylic powder and liquid were dream by EN and I used the intense seal gel cured by UV light. Luckily the lady is a friend because her Son is in my Daughters class at school. Anyway, she phoned me and said that the nails had started to lift after only 24 hours. She came back over to my house and I filed away the lifted product, applied nail dehydrator and acrylic primer (all by dream) to the area that I filed down and then redid zone 3. I filed into shape and that is when I noticed how yellow the white tips had gone. I ended up buffing away the gel top coat applying a base coat and airbrushing over the white tips to make them look fresh and clean. I decided to skip the intense seal top coat and used two coats of cetuem top coat instead.

All this lifting and teething troubles I am having is starting to get me down. I have lost my first client because her gel nails did the same thing, although I blame that intense seal stuff. It just cracks and peels and then it makes the gel underneath chip too.

Anyway, I really appreciate any help you can give me. I have spent so much money on 5 EN courses and stock for my business and I can't go on charging people next to nothing for their nails.

Thanks Sarah xx:sad:

all the lifting is to do with the prep. If you're not doing the prep correctly then this will cause lifting. Talks us through your prep routine and maybe we can help you out. As for the yellowing i have had the same problem before and don't get blaming yourself as i did and then later found out the client was using the sunbeds and cream which caused the yellowing. I use Akzentz Gels and CND supper shiney they last for weeks without any problems.

Sorry, but any number of home learn courses won't prepare you for providing nail services for paying clients! You need to have further courses with actual teachers and real people as models.

For this problem it sounds like she has bee sunbathing or on a sunbed. Many products have UV inhibitors as UV light often reacts with them to turn them yellow. It could be a reaction to another chemical in cleaning products or self tan creams.

Buffing it off and reapplying a product with a UV inhibitor will solve the problem plus asking whet else your client has been using.

Hi again

My nail prep routine is as follows:-

sanitise nails
apply cuticle softener and remove cuticle.
buff shine off nail
gently etch nail surface
apply nail dehydrator
tip
blend
apply acrylic primer etc.........

I have contacted sweet squared for information on a foundation course in Essex. I phoned them over a week ago and still no prospectus. I think I will phone them again tomorrow. I really like the sound of CND and haven't heard a bad thing about their products. It's just paying another £500 + for further training. But I know I will be thankful and more experienced!!!!
