Hi there,

Im half way through my vtct course on extensions and just wondered about the french finish for fibreglass nails...

Obviously when using fibreglass / silk you normally end with a 'clear' nail rather than the french look achievable with acrylic. BUT, do any of you that offer fibreglass (qualified) offer them with french tips to get that french look?
I know you cant backfill the white so really, after the first lot of infills you'd need to soak off and apply a new set ?

If any of you do this, how practical do you find it? Im just finding that im preferring fibreglass to acrylic at the mo and also find it alot quicker in general; but i know alot of peeps like the french look and want to know if thats realistically possible without having to paint the fibreglass...

Hi ya - i've tried it 3 ways. First with the french tip - as you say there's a prob at rebalance. Second, with a paint on white gel or thirdly with a white acrylic paint. If you look at the tutorial for More than White that's what i've referred to for the application.

Of course there's always the option if this is what your client wants to do a normal french mani. Hope that helps. xx:)

 *bump*

Anymore advise from anyone else that does fibreglass?

Yes I do use the French tips with fibre or silk, but its explained that its short term and I only ever do one fill ( 3 week) then they need to go to gel of apply a new set. or I just french polish them if they refuse to soak off.

at end if the days its the clients choice, but i can tall you french tips look lovely in fibreglass, i prefer it to acrylic it also feels lighter on the client nails then acrylic, bus sadly not as strong so if she is rough on her nails i recc Acrylic.

thankyou for all your replies - sorry magsham! I didnt mean to come across as ungrateful for your advice! -reading back i can see that that's probably how it looked so im really sorry
I just wanted to get as many views as poss as its obviously everyone has different opinions on it - but i really am grateful for every reply..

Thanks again!!

Why would you tell your clients that Fibreglass is short term and then go over to gel. Why not just apply gel enhancements in the first place or for those clients that prefer/suit Fibreglass, why not just rebalance them the usual way and replace the smile line with More Than White.

So are you saying to put gel over a wrap instead of the glue?? I'm a little lost.

hi, im studying level 2 nails so doing fibreglass i use the white tips on my nails with the fibreglass/silk, they are a problem to infill but they are mainly suited for clients who only want them on for a few weeks anyway or a special occassion, i find if people want nails on long term to adv them to get gel or acyrlic as more hard wearing :)

They are not a problem to rebalance at all.....I think it may be down to lack of experience with the product that makes it a problem for you. Some clients just cannot wear L+P or Gel so a wrap system is perfect for them.
