Hi Im just interested to know how many other Bio techs have done the sculpting course? The reason I ask I went to collect an order today , and asked about the new free edge gel training, ( as no one bothered to get back to me last time I called them!), and the girl behind the desk asked if Id done the sculpting course first ..when I replied no ...she said ..why not?

I am trained in acrylic and tbh havent had much call in extensions in Bio , and even if I did Id do sculpts in acrylic and then convert them over to Bio when they could have nno ,if need be .

Just niggled me ..WHY NOT ...oh and probly the other reason because Ive read on here that the sculpting gel isnt very strong so havent bothered with the course before the free edge gel came out!

Hi Debbie

I have done the sculpting couurse recently, and they ONLY showed us how to sculpt with Free Edge Gel, and hardly mentioned Sculpting Gel at all. I had to read the book to find out how to use the Sculpting Gel - I think they now cover Sculpting with Silk on the "Advanced Gel" course - but I haven't been allowed to book onto that one yet, as they told me to go and get at least 6 months experience first.

Helen.

Debbie, check out the Biosculpture Forum. There might be some talk about the course on there.
I know Zingara attended the course.
You could have asked me to pick up your order on Tuesday!:)

Yep, I did. And it was probably the best spent money I forked out with Bio, although I must say that was before FE edge gel and when we were only sculpting with the sculpting gel and/or silk.

I personally think FE gel is a ton easier and don't know if you'd get the same value out of a course now...especially if they are swapping content around, although its usually a great confidence booster.

Do they include basic sculpting in the current initial gel training course?

Depends what you mean by basic sculpting.. we were shown how to sculpt with FE gel and a form on the Sculpture course, as well as how to do repairs with silk. Sculpture Gel and Silk Sculpting were not coverded at all.

No, I'm talking about the original two day course before you go onto the sculpting workshop - do they cover sculpting in that at all, or is it all NNO?

Sorry Lyndsay - misunderstood. In the first 2 days you just do manicure & then NNO - no sculpting at all.

Hi All - I've recently booked myself on the Bio 2 day course and have been told that the first day is basic manicure, nno and then sculpture on the second half day! hth's x

BessieBoo is right as I am on the 2nd day for just sculpting on her course, see you there Claire :)

are you all using S-gel with the new Edge gel? to make the sculp.

Which of the clear gels do you use most?

Thanks.:) sorry to hijack here

are you all using S-gel with the new Edge gel? to make the sculp. Yes...you need it to build a hugh upper arch for strength.

Which of the clear gels do you use most? I use mostly S-gel or sealer gel. I don't personally like Clear gel, but I keep a small pot for a bonder layer when sculpting. I even use sealer on the natural nail under NNO's as it yellows less, but always use S-gel to build. Then I seal with sealer for NNO, or S-gel if more strength is required.

Thanks.:) sorry to hijack here

My answers in red...:)

Thank you Lyndsay :)
You did not mention sculpture gel, you obviously dont bother with it, if you use Sgel then. Would I be right in thinking Sealer gel has uv agent in it to prevent yellowing?
Sorry for all the questions, it just I wanted to pre order before my day at BS and use my own gels on the course. Any advise would be most welcome.
Thanks.

Since Free Edge gel came out I've not opened my pot of sculpting gel! One geek did sugest that you could use it to build under a colour, and if i ever remembr i may do this, just to use it up but i won;t buy it again.

From a bit of digging and deducing it appears however that Clear and Sealer gel will both be fazed out and replaced by a stronger, less yellowing one component flexible gel. Bio trialled one last year in South Africa, but it never made it to the UK....they are now working on a newer version. S-gel will continue as a extra strengh gel. I doubt Bio will admit that openly as far as the Clear and Sealer at the mo though.

If it were me, for now, I'd order a small pot of clear, and medium pots of Free Edge gel, Sealer gel and S-gel. I don't bother with the large pots as they have inevitably gone a bit gloopy and got a few bits in (no matter how much you keep them covered) by the end of the pot!

Many thanks!!!!!!!!

I love sculpting gel under colour .... its smoother, gives a nice finished look on the colour. Try it on one of fingers and compare it to clear or sealer gel as the bonding layer.
