Hi i did my nieces nails last night and was really pleased until i seen them today. One or two were cloudy under smile lines what can this be. She is going on holiday on thursday she thinks they look great but it has annoyed me. Please any advise would be great. Have been not doing nails for over three months since i had a major op so still new to it all as i only qualified last october .

most likely this is where you have pressed the white too flat when trying to shape the smile.

You need to ensure when you have your smile line that you wipe out excess fluid and then 'tuck' the smile line back in nice and shape (so it should look like a wedge from side on) otherwise you will see a ledge that will give a soft 'cloudy' look.

Thank you so much x

Do you actually mean under the smile (zone 1) or above the smile (zone 2)???

One reason to express yourself in zones is that it makes it so much easier to understand where you are talking about.

If the problem is in zone 2 (the stress area) then it will be what we call 'ghost shadow' where the tip either has air trapped beneath it or it has not been blended far enough.

Zone 1 = the free edge zone

Zone 2 = the stress area

Zone 3 = the lunula area (sometimes called the cuticle area).
