I have a friend who i do nails on. i use nsi attraction system which i thought was non yellowing?
So what could be causing it? she is a smoker but i wouldnt have thought it would make a difference? She also has her nails very long and experiances lifting although it has got better sine i started doing her nails, so she said to me that she put clear nail varnish over the top to stop the lifting from happening!!!! (if it was that easy i would have done it on her from day 1!).

Any help would be great. i just look forward to the one time i do a rebalance and find her nails looking 'normal' with just a tincy bit of lifting - or none at all and id be extatic lol:lol:

Also would i just rebalance in the same way and file away the yellowed product?

Thanks again for your help

Some products aren't as colour stable as others and will yellow prematurely. One major contributor to this is UV light from either sunbeds or natural sunlight. You could try using a UV filtering top coat to help prevent this, I'm not sure if NSI sell one.

Yes, rebalance as normal, the product may have discoloured all the way through, but your new white on top of this will mask it if it has.

food is another factor as well, curry is terrible for turning nails yellow. Like cathie said sunbeds adn natural sunlight can turn them yellow. i have many smokers as clients and they dont go yellow.
I cant comment on Nsi as i dont use it Im a young nails girl, and never have yellowing except when they go for a quick ruby murray.

Can I also add hair dye to that list, had a client who coloured her hair at home and would often return with stained nails due to this.

Just to add if it's all the nails that have yellowed then it's likely the product, if its sparodic, the odd nail here and there, it's likely stainage from food, hair colour etc.

If it happens as soon as your brush hits the powder or whilst you are makeing the nail, it's likely your brush is contaminated. xxx

Can I ask what are you using for a top coat? or are you buffing?
Some UV top coats will go yellow I had and was using an IBD one and it always went yellow after about 4 days. I now only use Glaze`n`Go and havent had any problems with it.

Some of my clients are heavy sunbed users and its never been a problem yet.I have used NSI attraction for 4 years and only ever had one client have yellowing of their nails we found out it was due to a cleaning agent she was using at work "without gloves" not a problem since she has stopped using it.

Hi it could be a number of factors due to this: hair dye, medication, sun tan lotion, food prep, etc

Also, I don't use NSI, so I cannot compare, I use Creative, or Ez Flow, and then use a top UV gel, cure. I find this protects the enhancements greatly. I use Hawley's "Miraseal", it is absolutely fantastic.

I don't like using just a top coat, as I find it doesn't last as long to protect the enhancements.

HTH.

Thakyou everyone, i can only assume that it must either be curry or the nail varnish she put on them.

I didnt use a top coat i buffed them, if i had have used a top coat it would have been glaze n go.

She doesnt use sun beds and sure she uses gloves when cleaning (have poped round unanounced and there she was with marrigolds cleaning the oven :)) i know she has a hair dresser dye her hair! still cant work it out then...

this was the 2nd set and it didnt happen last time???

Are you sure you brush isn't contaminated? Have you done anymore sets since, with the same brush and no yellowing?

Is it all of her nails or just a few?

dont think it is, im really carefull to look after it. i did my nails last night and its fine. i did her nails on the weds eve. it was her bday on the friday and i met up with her and they were fine(that was the day she put varnish on) i then saw her on the monday and they looked fine- oohh just realised she was doing the bbq when i saw her then, could charcoal or marinated chicken have done this??
Not on all fingers and i dont think on her thumb, i will have a look again when i see her tomorrow.
Thankyou all again!!

I would say it must be the top coat she is using if it is an old polish then it will trurn yellow quickly. Ask her to buy a new one and see if the yellowing occurs again.

If she is the only client you have with this problem i would ask her to bring in her topcoat and see if its old and manky.. (contaminated with god knows what) or just ask her to stop using it and see what happens.
I had a client who would put her own top coat on..she liked to "refresh them after a week" ((her words)) which meant file marks, and wierd shaped FE .. she would also always have yellowing, i worked out she was using a top coat i had never heard of and was the cause.

In the end i retailed her top coat and a buffer.. so she could play as much as she liked without causing more work for me, The yellowing dissapeared after that.
