Hi everyone

I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. I start a lot of courses very very soon (first one is 2nd nov) and I will be done with them all by the beginning of dec.

I am so excited and cant wait to start, but I have so many questions running round my head!

the first one is, when where you ladies ready to go pro after finishing the course? straight away? I have lots of people lined up to practise on and so will practise like mad whilst training. But will i still need more time once qualified or will i be ready to start immediately after?

Secondly, what equipment did you need to have to start? I get kits with the courses but what will i realistically need?

I am doing the following courses

creative nail acrylic and gel course
manicure
pedicure
facial
make up
nail art
waxing
tanning

so, if you have any advice at all id be really really grateful to you.

Also, can you tell me what insurance ill need ? is it public liability? or is there a specific insurance i need to take out?

I hope you can help me

thank you in advance

Hi tigi, Wow you are starting at the deep end! I've been a qualified beauty therapist for 18 months now and have just finished my creative nail course. I personally would say concentrate on a few things for a while then progress on to the other treatments.

Creative nails, mani/pedi & nail art can all be incorporated so that's where i'd start. I personally think there are too many elements to master.....I think you are much better off mastering the nails and then in the New Year think about summer for the make-up/waxing/tanning.

You need public liability insurance..... I would recommend Professional Nails Direct, I use them for nails and beauty - it's about £50.00 for the year and gives you £2m cover - great value. Their Tel No; 01622 740 040.

Hope my 2 penith helps...!? and Good Luck!

Many of your questions will (or should be answered) during your training, the worst thing about giving advice to someone before (or even during) their trainig is it may conflict with the advice from your educator.
And really you should be listening to them .....

Nail zoo, are you THE nailzoo that has those amazing youtube tutorials? If you are , then I am in awe. they are just so good.! I have watched them all and I think they are awesome.

thank you both for replying, I am an all of nothing kinda gal, I never do anything by halves! (sometimes this is not a good thing).

I will take your advice though and take things slowly, and will definately do as you both suggest, I will listen to my tutors and aslo go at a steady pace.

thank you again for taking the time the reply to me.
