Will Wella 12/11 grab too much on pre-lightened hair?

Hello,

Firstly may I say thanks to all of you for some of your posts; i have been reading them as a non-member for a while & found them extremely useful; I have now joined! :)

I am fairly new in this industry & attended a full-time private course in cutting & colouring which finished last year. I have been working in two different salons since but had quite bad experiences.

I am doing this from home & mobile now & enjoying much much more. The only downside is I find it difficult to ask opinions on colour when I need to. Here's where you come in....

I have a client (who I cut hair for) who is 50% grey with a natural base of around 8-9. She gets her colour done at a local salon & had 1/2 head of foils using an ashy hi-lift & bleach. She hates any warmth or gold & loves the fact her hair has a blue-ish colour when it's first coloured.

She wasn't pleased with her last colour (2 weeks ago) & has asked me to do it again for her mid-Aug. Therefore there is only going to be a months regrowth but she is more concerned with the colour of her mid-lengths & ends.

I was thinking of doing a t-section with bleach (6%) & Koleston 12/11 (9%) on the roots & then running Luo PO1 through the mid-lengths and ends for 10-15 mins to take out the warmth.

I also thought of using ice White (6%) on the roots using a foil weave & ice White with richesse developer on midlengths and ends (obviously only covering the yellow sections).

Is there a better way to do this? I seem to be rethinking this every day & it's driving me nuts!

I would VERY VERY much appreciate your help as this will put me out of my suffering!!!

Thanks in advance.

Darren.

hi depends how much warmth there is?? i would use 12/89 which has a pearly tone and violet on roots but more bleach high lights with pastel developer, and emulsify when rinsing keep your eye on the tone !!that will give you a very soft ash finish, wouldnt use 12/11 in this case as it will give you a dirty finish hope this helps:)

Hiya, just read your message again & would appreciate some clarification.

My clients hair is almost white with buttery yellow tones which she doesn't like. Her natural base is around 8-9 anyway with 30% grey.

Are you saying to use 12/89 on the roots and then emulsify at the end when taking the foils out or using a different pastel toner like PO1 on the mid-lengths & ends in addition to the 12/89?

Sorry if I am coming across a bit 'dim'; I just want to get this right first time.

Your help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

Darren.

Hi Darren, I know this is an old post so I am not sure how relevant it is. I used Wella 12/11 with 10vol on my level 9 roots that were a bit too brassy, left it on for 30 minutes and the result was a lovely neutral level 9 blonde.

Cblonde this is like from 2010! And the 12 series is not designed as a toner due to the high level of ammonia as its a highlift tint. It will cause unnecessary damage.

I'm really confused by all your posts recently. One post you say your a level 7 then this a level 9. Are you a hairdresser? Please don't think this rude but your posts are making me think that.

Either not qualified or poorly trained, it would appear.

Plus, there's not much point posting advice on a 5 year old thread so I'll close this now.
