Citizens Advice Bureau.

Employment specialist/Solicitor?

Don’t engage a solicitor, totally not necessary and very expensive! It’s perfectly acceptable and quite normal to draw up your own contracts. All you really need is a template version with all the essentials in it, then you can tweak it to fit your circumstances. It’s terms of employment, ie an employment agreement, as opposed to a legal agreement. You can probably buy a basic version online.

Of course it’s a legal agreement.
Employment laws are governed by both Statute and case law.
If you draft your own contract with a poor choice of words/phrases, it’s likely to be unenforceable.
I’ve certainly seen plenty of bad examples on here over the years where salon owners include all sorts of made up rubbish, particularly in respect of restrictive covenants.

Out of interest, would you accept an untrained hairdresser cut and colour your hair after watching a few YouTube videos, after all, how hard can it be?
